^^^^^^ playing 2h pve is the wrong way to go. Dw is the way. Pvp yeh but not pve

2H is actually pretty close to DW DPS if you don't have Maelstrom weapons, which I am pretty sure the OP doesnt. And for Solo play, it has plenty utility that stam dk can take advantage of.

If you aren't doing high-end game content, definitely consider looking at 2H over DW.

I'll have to disagree. I never use vma weapons with my dk but I can guarantee the dps is a lot higher than using 2h. Just not having steel tornado on u are missing out on massive are damage

Well you can disagree, but 2H can work fine. Is it competitive for Leaderboards? No (due to the disparity in vMA weapons). But it's perfectly viable. You just have to know what you are doing. 2H can actually do excellent, not to mention cheaper, AOE with Cleave (I prefer the Carve morph for one of the few sources of minor heroism in the game) + Reverse Slice (the AoE morph, also functions as your spammable and execute).

And don't forget that we have a second bar, so you can have bow or DW on the back bar as well.

Vma weapons have nothing to do with it. I'm not saying it can't be used. It can, what I'm saying is you're selling yourself short by choosing it over dw/bow. Dropping bow is too much of a loss aswel

You need vigor. Vigor crits are like 3.5k each tick, combine that with a shield.

I wish folks wouldn't recommend PvP skills for PvE play. As a PvE-only DK I never even knew Vigor existed for my first two years of play.

At lower levels, I always kept Green Dragon's Blood and Petrify/Shattering Rocks on my bar. The combination of taking one mob out of the fight, plus regular self-heals meant I very rarely died.

If you're really having trouble, go full heavy armor. You won't have nearly the stamina pool, so you'll need to mix in heavy attacks (which stack nicely with one of the 2h skills (Uppercut?)), but you'll be very hard to kill.

OP, Check out my sig for links to some stam dk builds that should help you. But for the love of Akatosh please do not listen to people recommending that you run heavy armor or a 2H. Each piece of Med gives you crit and sustain, so you are LOSING sustain with each piece of heavy, that 2% max stam you are gaining from Undaunted is piddly, and it's 2% to your base stam, so it's really minimal. And 2H is garb for pve, you want to go DW/Bow. Can you use 2H for overworld content? Sure, but if you want to get half-way competitive numbers and do trials, you gotta go DW/Bow, as this gives the most single target dps as well as best AoE.

[..]I would also recommend running a heavy chest piece for more sustain. [..]

This is true and immediately noticeable regarding survivability as well.

I'm running around in pickup armor doing all the quests in Stonefalls at the moment. I swapped a heavy chest to a light in order to complete a set on my Level 11 Dragon Knight and the difference was immediately apparent.

    Keep a heavy chest piece.

    Yep This^
My wife had a devil of a time until she added a heavy chest piece, she actually also currently is using heavy gauntlets with a bonus to Stam, the trade off is worth it I think.

Yeah, I use heavy armor, but my DK is magicka-based, not stamina-based. I'm not saying heavy armor is optimal for everybody, because for a lot of classes/races/builds, medium or light armor would be better.

It's going to get much worse after this patch

the change that major mending on the shield lasts only as long as the shield lasts seems really retarted....makes it useless fro hots and bascially you can only quickly hit shield + burst heal, done.... i thought the shield was kinda bad before lol

    Tell me more...

Im currently trying out NB healing and its not horrible. I've been thinking about DK

Ingenouus weapons, magma shell, ingenouus shields, healing springs, combat prayer mage light, resto staff ult, fot sets use combat physican and lamia song you will be on your way to being a do Healer.
Largely what I'm running...although I have mutagen, and healing ward (as well as ingenious and one of the springs morphs).

Also have the weapon empower thingy, cauterise, and obsidian shard. Will get a necrotic orb morph once I get my act together and level undaunted.

Fair warning...Triniamc's Valour looks great as a DK healer set on paper....it's not so flash in practice though. But it looks nice, so I'll keep using it.
