Keyboard support for Xbox

Is there a way I can use a keyboard with my Xbox for in game chat only? I don't want to use a chat pad cuz of how bulky it's make my controller but I would like to type faster than selecting each letter individually with a thumb stick.

    yep, just plug it in. Xbox is running windows under the covers, so compatibility is awesome. I've plugged in a few USB keyboards (I'm a mech keyboard nut) and all of them worked fine.
    A bonus to running a keyboard is that you can still type when the text chat is glitched (the glitch when the controller keypad doesn't pop up). You'll see what you're typing in the text window even though there isn't a keyboard; just learn the shortcuts like [/zone, /group, /say, /guild1 ...]

    There is a way. GameStop should have keyboards available.

    Not sure, but I use a Bluethooth keyboard on the PS4. It kind changed how I play ESO to make zone/group/whisper chat so accessible.

    Just plug in a wired keyboard works just fine

    Theirs gotta be a way because I'll be in group finder and guys be sending paragraphs in the matter of seconds. Really hoping you could just plug a old USB keyboard in, has anyone tried this? But I agree @spe825 it would be a game changer for real. I really hope they integrate voice commands I.e "open inventor", "open map" and "mount up"

    I use a wireless logitech k400 ($20) keyboard, have had it years and only thing even close to a problem i've had is that it doesn't work on my rear usb port (xbox1).. works perfect from side port so I just charge controllers from back usb.

    That's definitely how they do it. I type quite a lot into group chat. But, I'm also guessing that the majority of players do not even know that chat is going on since you either have to go to it in the menu, or enable quickchat in the UI options. The later is definitely the way to go so that you see things when needed.
