Mostly asking for a friend of mine. I have no trouble completing it outside a few roadblocks(valley of blades with no pots.. doh) but my friend quit a few months after launch being unable to complete the one to save Sai. He's mostly a solo quester anyways and doesn't exactly like challenging content, even if it's not very challenging. >.>

Nah you can skip it entirely

Though I will say, all the skill points you get are nice.

Not disagreeing on the skill points thing. It's one of the reasons I do the guild quests.

I'll be sure to let him know. Thanks!

I would definitely do main story and guild quests. You can get by without doing side quests pretty much. Doesn't take that long to do main stuff and you would be missing out on a lot of needed skill points.

    What jl said.
I played for a couple of months before I even started the main quest. The skill points are great, and it's a way into Coldharbor, but otherwise, you don't have to do it at all.

    Main story, challening .. lolwat?

No answer the question though, no it's not. You only miss out on the skill points, and the Soul Strike ultimate.

    It was never mandatory?

You could reach level 50 and then be Vet 1 and do what you like...

The main story line is about a dozen quests with each one granting a skill point. It does not take long, but it is not required. The quests that bring us to the Harborage is the only line of quests called Main.

I remember having to Google some help in a couple spots (the... gargoyle? while building a flesh atronach?) when I did it. And the help threads I found suggested that I wasn't the only one to have problems there.

Of course, I was playing a typical(?) 'new player' character. I'd just come from Skyrim, and I liked stealth archers, sooo.... bow stamblade (only bow, only one bar), stats divided between Stam & Health, also some Magika abilities (Consuming Trap & Swallow Soul to self-heal), mix of poorly-crafted and pre-1T drop gear, etc.

I can imagine all kinds of trouble.

My stamblade was trying to do valley of blades when I ran out of pots and I kept getting wrecked on the first pair.

I finally had to rely on ww to kill them, after pulling one at a time after a death.

I had a few issues on my DK back at launch, with that same pull, because first miniboss respawned mid fight.

    Not everyone has "mad skillz".

Also, the access to some Soul Magic Skills Passives are rather nifty:
    • Soul Summons: Allows you to revive once every 2 -> 1 hour without expending a soul gem. (1 freeby death :D)
    • Soul Shatter: If your Health drops below 20%, your soul explodes, dealing [x](times rank) Magic Damage to nearby enemies. Triggers once every two minutes (good for some free damage, but don't prioritize this passive)
    • Soul Lock: Weapon kills have a 5-10% chance to automatically filling a soul gem. (meh, just slot Soul trap every now and then when grinding.)
And some people find use in that Ultimate ability for their build.

Your friend should have played the main quests back in 2014. :smirk:

Yes, get your friend some crafted set and teach him an simple one bar rotation and he will do much better.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

He did. Was when he quit over it. Lol. Meanwhile I did the last guild quests at 31 with zero issue. -_-

I'll set him up with some gear. I can craft something I'm sure.

If he quit within a few weeks of launch and hadn't tried again, tell him to do so. They've nerfed it

I was going to suggest you craft him a gear set. Game is easier now, anyway.

3000 hours later I have yet to do cadwell sliver ...I probably wouldn't of done mainstory if it was like it is now. ESo is an open world games. You can go anywhere without limitations except cydrolli.

So you don't do any story quests?
