Year 1 Sustain Issues were not fun. ZOS is taking us back to Year 1.

    This is how I feel.
My dragonknight's magicka sustain is going to be gone, at least until I can figure out an alternate way to re-create it. Them destroying the "Magician" CP line is going to force a lot more players to use Seducer armor, because it reduces magicka costs. (I already have a 5-piece Seducer set, though, so I'm better off than most.)
I'm not crying and wringing my hands, but I'm still not looking forward to the patch. My DK is my favorite character right now, and I'd hate for that to be ruined. I have a sorceror, but I don't like the sorceror spells quite as much, so I don't play her any more. I don't want to be forced to go back to my sorceror because the DKs were wrecked.

Actually sustain was fine at launch, most builds ran at least one sustain set. But we had softcaps so you didn't have to stack damage to the roof.

If they were bringing us back to year 1 I would be overjoyed. Repentance worked year 1. Battle Roar was amazing year one. So was igneous shield.

But that is NOT what they are doing. They are gutting beloved class skills just to keep the champion system and softcap removal process alive.

You think nerfing sustain is a good thing? Remove CP, put caps on regen. Done. Going back is a good thing. game was actually fun back then.

But they aren't going back, they are continuing to nerf things because of CP and no softcaps.

I meant that they're taking us back to year 1 sustain levels. It won't work. The content and class skills have been tweaked far to much.

C'mon guys. How are you gonna forget about the good ole' Craglorn wasps? Eh, eh!? Such fun was to be had fighting for your life against those spawns of pure evil. Or as I did for the most part, which was trying my damn hardest to avoid them all together. Those wasps and those damn mages in Craglorn made veteran dungeon bosses look like a joke back then.

I think the people is ragin a lot because they are not trying to understand the changes, they just understand that the old system is over, they dont get the new and the message that arrives to their little brain is: WTF is going to happen now, everything will be a dissaster!!! ahhh!!! RAGEEEEEEEEEE!!!

ZOS is balancing maximum resources, with resources regeneration and damage. It can't be possible that till now it was possible to maximize pool, have a lot resources regeneration and also maximum damage!

It has to be like in real life:

Do you want maximum resources to spam more skills ate once? ok, but you will lose some damage and some regeneration.

Do you want more damage? ok but your resources pool will be smaller and your resource regeneration will decrease also.

Do you want to have more resources regeneration to don't lose some sustain if fight gets longer? ok but then your damage will decrease and your regeneration the same.

What I'm saying is that now things will change in the way that before you could stack 40K+ magicka or stamina and break faces and butts in Cyrodiil.

Now you have to balance your build, your pool, your regeneration and weapon damage as well.

Not JUST the CP line, you forget about reducing the Light Armor passive from 1,2,3% down to 1,2% per Light armor piece... so for most people that's a further 7% cost reduction with the loss in Light armor passive alone. :(

If we wanna do it right bring back soft caps, this is like a bastardised version of it.

With animation cancelling, i don't mind it and can do it but don't feel it's fair that it is ever an essential part of a dungeon, i.e you shouldn't need a certain amount of DPS only attainable through AC'ing, to beat a boss.

Oh ... and you know what else you can't do while heavy attacking???

    Animation cancel!

The global cooldown makes animation canceling pointless. Once you cast an ability, you can't even light attack let alone cast another ability until the cooldown wears off. Anyone that still animation cancels is doing it out of habit or for fun, but it doesn't make them attack any faster than anyone else.

Ever thought that they nerfed animation cancelling by nerfing sustain? It's actually genius. I mean it's still in the game so people can't complain about ZOS removing it entirely but if you want to do it you'll have less stamina than a Filterless Marlboro chain smoker.

I'm not even joking anymore. Holy crap. This really is what they did.

And it was stupid even before you came to this conclusion, and it's even stupider now.

I agree, animation canceling is stupid.

Enlighten us on how Animation cancel is bad (and the skillcap it brings withj it) and how mindlessly spamming heavy attacks is ANY good for pvp?

I take it you are that kind of "pvpr" that enjoys a very simple "skilless" playstyle dominated by RNG crits...

Um, maybe because it's not suppose to be in the game. What part of cheating to make something happen faster seems like a legit game element?

Lol cheating, get a grip. If it was cheating thousands would be banned.

The game was fun back then? Thats purely an opinion that is not shared by all. Id wager its an opinion that is far far far in the minority. It was SO unfun back then that the games sub numbers dropped, the game received across the board negative PR and it was uniformly shrugged off by gamers that typically leaned towards MMOs.

I left the game year 1, just came back recently, may be leaving again soon based on PTS patch notes. That is a mighty nerf hammer and resource management sounds like a tedious municipal job not something fun to do in a game.

I agree very much with this point. Sustain in itself was not the issue but rather the massive dps SOME people could achieve with the high sustain levels. So why not just nerf animation cancelling. This would have brought down the dps roof while not effecting low level players so severely.

they dont want animation cancel nerfed because they want to have their advantage over ppl who cant do it, or cant do properly. and egos. there is so many huge egos in eso who call it skillful play and that animation cancelling makes somehow combat more fluent.

oh, now that is funny! :)

So let's play a game called what if... what if ZOS could have fixed the animation cancel bug as they had originally reported that they intended to do? If we had the delays of animations to balance power spamming, would we need huge resource nerfs to balance?

not exactly... it's how they balance the animation canceling they couldn't fix and called a "feature"... which is exactly how I refer to my own personal failings... as features :P
