Do I need to put points into anything other than the main passive for crafting (i.e. tailoring, metalworking, etc.) to have a chance at obtaining writs from dailies? Thank you!

If you want to get the anniversary reward just do the starter zone writs. No skill points required

Thanks. I edited the original post because I was actually referring to the sealed writs.

Edit: It's not letting me edit the OP lol!

For the Master writs, better chances are obtained by having more complete motifs (other than the basic ones)...i was under the impression passives helped as well, but was told that was not the case...still have no idea which is right :o

It's not gonna help anyways, I have master crafter with almost all motifs learned, I never got something more than 80 vouchers, doing dailies everyday since update. And I saw plenty of noobs without even half of motifs and traits who got 100+. Thx zos. Those writs are completely random so don't worry, less you know - more u get.

Guess it's just RNG. My DK has 10/10 into metalworking and nothing else. Barely any motifs known.

She got a sealed writ with 92 writ rewards in it today.

Guess I'll just put the 10 mandatory points in each crafting section and let the RNG gods do the rest.

Hope this helps anyone else curious if it is required to go beyond the 10 points.

Learning 9/9 traits gives a good bonus to master writ drop chance. Having all motifs helps too (complete styles only, 13/14 parts of a motif will not count towards and increase in drop chance). Learning all the crafting achievements certainly helps as well.
To be honest it takes a hell of a lot of effort to get a decent chance of a master writ drop, and then the amount of writ vouchers awarded per writ is totally up to RNG.
From my own stats of thousands of writs completed, if you have a crafter that knows 9/9 traits, all the motifs and has completed all the crafting achievements, the drop rate for master writs is just under 20%, so 1 master writ from every five crafting writs completed.
To put that in perspective, a crafter that has 8/9 traits, knows about 3-4 complete motif sets and has completed about 80% of the crafting achievements has about a 6% chance of a master writ dropping, so a master write every 20 writs completed.
And a crafter that has 0 traits, not motif sets and few achievements can expect a 2-3% drop rate.

So you get reward for a lot of effort but the top drop chance is still relatively low, so its up to you how much time you wish to devote to gathering writs because its neither easy, quick or cheap to make a crafter with a reasonable master writ drop chance.

One of my woodworkers that knows no other crafting just popped a writ for 110 vouchers. My main that knows all maxed crafting, most motifs etc...has never received over 6 vouchers.....go figure.

Thats because the amount of vouchers on a master writ is completely up to RNG as opposed to the drop chance which is influenced by your crafting skills/achievements/motifs etc.
