Unless you're far more comfortable on a magplar, I'd go mag sorc. Destro/destro is what I usually see guys running for sorcs. The setup you have above seems more for magplar.

Also I'd go 2 Grothdar/Ilambris, 3 just seems like overkill.

I agree with Danksta to go for magsorc because vMA favours range dps and magic builds more. On magsorc you can switch to overload bar from time to time and nuke stuff down which also helps with sustain issue. Shield spam is good in there.

If you want to min/max your toons you can go for a high elf magsorc but breton will be more than enough to beat vMA, same goes for magplar. Bretons for solo magplar isn't that bad considering the extra 4k spell resistance.

Your gear setup is fine, again you don't need gold BiS gear to clear vMA, I cleared it with purple julianos and willpower jewlery. Though for your weapons you need to make sure they are sharpen or it's a significant drop, as vMA enemies have between 9-18k resistance.
