Homestead Crownstore - 'Fountain' is not a Fountain at all!

'An ornamental structure in a pool or lake from which one or more jets of water are pumped into the air.'

Having decorated my courtyard I decided that there was something missing - the relaxing sound of trickling water!

And, whilst I was visiting the weekend Luxury Furnishing Vendor in Cardharbor on Saturday I stumbled across the Fountain nearby and decided that it was just what the courtyard in my house needed!

A quick search in the Crownstore revealed that in fact, there is only one Fountain available - the same one that is in Coldharbor (not counting the Blood Fountain of course) - no problem I thought, that one will do just fine, but at 1000 crowns it's expensive. No choice I thought - and having seen the identical one in world I decided I was happy with it and went ahead and purchased it.

The problem is - it isn't the same. It's just a slab of stone with a pool of water around it. No gushing water, not even a trickle - no Fountain at all. Now although I previewed it before purchase, the preview is limited, you can't zoom in and check the detail, and it's a fair assumption that it would operate the same as the in world one - especially at a 1000 crowns.

So, ZOS, can I have my crowns back please?, because I believe I've been mis-sold something - or can you turn on the animation please?. You have sold me a Fountain that is not a Fountain at all!

Legally you're almost certaintly entitled to a refund and they probably know that too.

Submit a ticket and my guess is that they'll be quick to refund you.

It says right in the description if an item is either "Animated" (i.e.swaying signs/lights, spouting fountain, etc.) or "Interactable" (i.e. lights/candles that can be turned up/down, fountains that can be turned off, etc.) in it's behavior label.

If the description doesn't mention the item as having a "furnishing's behavior", then it is simply a static item.

Now, I've not seen the descriptor for this particular item, but all items that "do something" or that can be "toggled", have that information clearly stated. If this item says it's togglable and it isn't, then you've got a case for a refund.

Otherwise, it's on you for not reading the description more clearly and just assuming that it'd function as seen around Tamriel.

Then again ZOS could possibly still just give you a refund as a good faith gesture for a customer who simply clicked "buy" a little to quickly before getting all the info.

    GL in however this goes!

Yeah - I get that I really do, but I'm just asking for it to be a 'Fountain' as in the English (and items) description of a 'Fountain', interactive or not.

heehee, you really chose the perfect example, talking about furnishing descriptions and all!
The Hope of Rivenspire "..the bright blue light..." is actually an ordinary red/orange flame!

So..thanks for underlining the OPs opinion - although you didn't mean to! :D

I nearly bought this 1,000 crown "fountain" for my house too - Would have been great in my courtyard. ZOS either needs to animate it, improve the description in the Crown store, or pull it. It's not unreasonable to expect it to behave the same as the animated fountain in Coldharbor, and for 1,000 crowns it should.

Submit a ticket and ask for a refund, I'll say.

In any case, in the future, refer to this website for reference before actually buying or crafting anything, so that you are sure of how it actually looks.

It has this item you posted about:
