Can we Scrap the Restoring Light Tree for something else?

I think this templar skill line has brought nothing but grief for not only Templar users, but the game designers as well. Every skill has had to go through a major overhaul at one point or another.

Rushed Ceremony/Breath of Life/Honor the Dead - do I really need to go over all the changes this skill has gone through? Do I have to point out how polarizing this skill is?

Healing Ritual/Ritual of Rebirth/Hasty Ritual - in a game where a second can mean living or group wipe, who in their right mind would take a small AoE heal with a 1.5 second cast time? This skill was overhauled last patch and it's still garbage

Restoring Aura/Repentance/Radiant Aura - Radiant Aura is finally viable after months of ineptness, and it gets a small Nerf. Fair enough. I get that in a wide sweeping change to recovery, magicka steal needed to take a hit. I understand that. What I don't understand is why cripple Repentance? It's base stamina return was already lowered, but it was too harsh to completely remove the stamina return to teammates.

Cleansing Ritual/Purifying Ritual/Ritual of Retribution - remember when purifying ritual used to remove 5 negative effects and had a reduced cost? Pepperidge farm remembers...

Rune Focus/Channeled Focus/Restoring Focus - remember how channel focus's magicka return was "fixed" back to 8 seconds? Pepperidge farm - I already used that joke...

Every single skill has been changed already...Even the passives for this skill tree are bad though this is more in line with the "crappy templar passives" theme.

I recommend just removing the Restoring Light Tree and replacing it with a skill line focused on self buffs and CCs. Templars have distinct lack of those tools and if our heals are going to be taken away regardless, I would rather have something else to fall back on. Thoughts?

Either now or in the past I have relied on most of the skills within this tree on my templar. I'm very torn with this because with so many of the changes I do get upset but I also adjust. I would like a good templar CC skill though as a primary PVP player I find that javelin/toppling charge stuns are not enough.

@0rnge I dont mind adjusting either, but not every single time. This skill line has had a major change to it or one of it's skills every patch. Some skills are labeled "OP" (purifying ritual/BoL)while the others are useless(healing ritual). I use some of those skills in this tree because of how much of a staple they are to templar builds regardless of role, but I'm willing to give them up for abilities that will actually round out the class and not be nerfed every patch.

Will this new skill line have passives that don't suck? How about a reliable cc? Maybe even major mending?

Taking away major mending from the "healing class" is one of the more ignorant things ZOS has done.

I agree with everything OP presents... I guess we knew this was coming considering the devs new class features healing...

    Keep Major Mending for Templars!!!

Nerf BoL, if you think it heals too much. But a class with 33% of its skills designed to heal has no access to the Major Mending Buff? Why?

Templars even don't have Major Sorcery or Brutality Buff LIKE ALL OTHERS have.

I understand why the new Warden needs some room for being a supportive class. Repentance nerf: okay. BUT NUMBER ONE healing class IS THE TEMPLAR. (if not remove the class or change the restoring light tree ... WTF ZOS)

They should keep repentance as it is but give it a cost. Oh wait? That would outperform warden.

Well I think that's exactly it. They don't just want templar to be the #1 pick ALL THE TIME NO MATTER WHAT CONTENT YOU DO, because right now, that's exactly how it is. Ask any of the top raids or pvp guilds and if you recommend anything other than running templars as healers, they will laugh in your face, because right now templar is the ONLY class that can heal well and this is a problem. Everyone talks about how they don't want the game homogenized, yet they only want templar to be able to heal well? I do play a healer in pve and pvp, and I do agree that the changes to shards, healing orb, and repentance are totally dumb and should be adjusted; however, templar seriously needed to be put in check and I feel like they are on a good path to doing that.

I have 3 templars. They broke every build i play for them. I'm hoping they change the blue they're creating to the game. Heavy attacking is not fun. Looking build diversity that has only been good for 6 months is not fun. Very disappointed this is where they are headed.

I agree with this argument, but as a counter point, if Templars end up not the best healer(and groups will always min/max) then they could end up going the way of NB, in PvE at least. Templars could do good damage, but in no way is it as much as DK/Sorc. Even before RD nerf, they were competitive but not above the others. They really should buff Templar and Magblade DPS along with serious fixes to Stam if they're so bent on everything being equal.
