[Suggestion] - Transmog System

KanedaSyndrome

Do you think it's important that we eventually get a transmog system in the game, allowing crafters to change the style of gear to any style that the crafter knows and has materials for? (ie. changing a shield from a dungeon drop to a different racial style).

This sort of system would be perfect for launching along with Morrowind for instance.

@Giles.floydub17_ESO it will add to it, it constantly applies pressure and community support and clearly and consistently reminds ZOS that this is a wanted feature within ESO.

Selling costumes and the ability to dye costumes is too tied in to their current business model to allow xmog.

What they COULD do is sell special style items in the Crown Store that allow you to change 1 piece of gear to any style you know 1 time. That wouldn't threaten their revenue base and still allow people to have the creative freedom they are looking for.

    This. SO MUCH THIS!

You hearing this @ZOS_GinaBruno, @ZOS_JessicaFolsom, @ZOS_RichLambert...?? This isn't going to go away any time soon. We know you're busy with Morrowind, but maybe after it's launched you guys can finally sit down and talk about making this happen?

the system for it is already in game. right now with imperial style, and later - with Morag Tong. so its not even something new that they have to develop, just expand it to other motifs. of course - right now imperial style is applied for free and they may possibly want to make it NOT free. don't think the costumes are an issue though, since as much as I say enjoy costumes, they are still fairly limited. its a shame to have all these motifs in game and not really being able to use them while minmaxing your gear.

There have been talks about having it as a feature for ESO+. Some may hate that idea, others may love it. Personally I don't mind either way. I just started subbing to this game and have no intention of unsubbing as long as I'm playing. (That craft bag is just TOO useful to not have.) My Point though is this: Think about how many people would subscribe even for just a month to transmog their gear. Then out of all those people that do that, how many do you think would keep subbing anyway because they like the bonuses, like the costume dying, crafter bag and bonus exp, etc. This way it won't hurt their revenues and might even help it... As adding features to ESO+ should.

I'd love 'something' like this but I'd prefer a wardrobe system - similar to the ones in LotRO and SWTOR. I'd rather spend money on buying the wardrobe slots and have the ability to change outfits easily, than have to run to a Transmog vendor all the time. Although, Yaks in WoW make do make that a lot easier. :)

I mean, this is probably not implemented only because they did not find a feasible way to monetize it. Just tie it to Crown Motif Stones already.

We don't need mechanics from another MMOS, like transmutation, transmog, AH, this is an unique MMO. What can be done is allow you to convert EVERY type of gear to imperial, or many other styles to come...

Transmog/Trasmutation, in this context it literally means the exact same thing you're describing. Changing the appearance of Equipment to look like other styles/pieces of equipment. Specifically, Dropped sets/Monster sets to allow for full customization of our end game armor appearance.

I think it should be like this:
    1. Take gear to mages guild
    2. Find mage that specializes in illusion magic (special vendor)
    3. Place order (Which armour piece/weapon that needs transmog and which piece to transmog. You would need a piece of matching type armour/weapons (heavy for heavy, light for light, sword for sword, ax for ax, etc.) and a prerequisite crafting level needed for this depending on gear level and motif)
    4. Pay fee and receive both pieces back. The new piece transmogged to match the style of the "donor" piece.
    5. Profit
    6. Your toon is now unique in look with the dungeon set or any set bonuses you want

Would be interesting like this and the fee could be anything from mats to gold to crowns or a combination of them.

Step 1) Crown Store sells magic currency item for Illusion Mage, usually found near magic Illusion Forge.

Step 2) Person goes to mage, says "Hey bruh, change this look."

Step 3) Illusion Mage asks for token, says cool, then asks for crafting material usually used for item (such as casserite)

Step 4) You give token and crafting material, and item you want the appearance changed of.

    Step 5) ???

    Step 6) Profit.
