How do you know if you have a memory leak?

I'm not sure what I have. After being logged on for long hours, the game fps drops and starts running some what sluggish. Is that a memory leak? And how can I check it?

TESO needs a wardrobe system badly. Something similar to WoW's tmog system would make this game one of the best mmorpg out there!

Check the inside of your PC case for memory puddles.

Or see if your PC tower is sitting in a spreading pool of memory.

If so, you may need to order another bottle of memory juice to make sure your PC can keep running. Pro Tip: They keep it on the shelf right next to the blinker fluid for your car.

Check your pillow for strangely familiar thoughts.

EDIT: Also try disabling addons and see if you can reproduce the same behavior. MM would be my guess.

Well I only expected the jokes to go on for a couple replies but geez.

OP I will say ESO is pretty bad on leaks at least for my system. I hve 16 GB of RAM and if I leave the game up very long I'll check and ESO will be using over 12 GBs alone.

To check minimize the game and bring up task manager and then check your memory there. I don't know exact numbers but if I check here when I first launch ESO it's using 3-4 GB at most. If you are in that range. Then play for a couple hours and check later. Hopefully it gets fixed in a future ESO or Windows patch lol.

DMeuhlhausen and Phinix gave you some good suggestions where to start. You should disable all addon in game and systematically see if there is any of these that could be creating a memory leak. MM make use of a large amount of data to handle prices, so it is one likely add on that can create memory leak after some time.

Dropping frame rate could be caused by several other reason then a memory leak, so you can not use that as an indication for having more and more memory being allocated (occupied). In any case memory leaks are connected to how Windows (or your OS) work as it is on that level memory allocation are being made and game/apps need to interact with OS to release/allocate memory space. Add ons work within those limitations too and then you have video card drivers etc, so you need to take a step by step to narrow it down.
