Not to go off topic, but several posts claim to not pvp at all. I mean..why? You're playing an online game, and there's no real point in playing by yourself. I mean, pve can be fun after the first 700 CP, but it gets very repetitive. To all of the ones saying they want to get the top gear, being the best and whatnot..why? So you can fight an AI whose moves are already predicted?

It just seems strange that people like to play an MMO by themselves or with a very tight knit group, at least fighting players is always a refreshing experience. You'll never know what to expect except for zergs. What is the appeal to being so seclusive?

These players are just like people on a dating site who are in a relationship already..they're just there defeating the whole purpose of said activity.

I think what put's a lot of people off isn't PvP itself, it is that Cyrodiil is a pretty bad experience. You need to load in and travel to the fight. If you don't PvP a lot, then you have two options: go solo or join a zerg. Neither of which are particularly enjoyable for most people.

The best Cyrodiil experience is with a small group of people, yet this is hard to find if you don't PvP often or don't have friends that PvP.

    Hopefully Battlegrounds fixes this problem.

    PvE - Templar Healer

If I'm soloing Pledges I tend to run my mNB more. I enjoy it more than jabbing things to death.

I have to disagree with you on the very most base premise of your post.

Just because a game is an MMO, does not mean that it is meant to be played in a group or with other people.

Since MMORPG's have existed, the vast majority of people in those games have been Solo players, and those players have grouped up only when trying to conquer Group-designed content, or when they feel that they need a group for some other reason.

Massively Multiplayer Online means nothing more than the fact that the persistent, online game world is shared by thousands/millions of other people. It does not mean that it is supposed to be mandatory that content is played "together in a Group".

That mentality is a new mentality that has only come about in the last four to five years, and it does a very big disservice to the very history of MMO's as a genre.

I for one, do not PvP because IMO (and only in my own opinion), any type of PvP should never have been introduced into MMORPG's. I feel that it is invasive, and forces a mentality of competition on players that is better left to MOBA's and FPS's, but is unhealthy for MMORPG's as a whole, and forces negative change on the PvE aspects of MMO's to try to cater to a super-competitive PvP mentality. But again, that's just my opinion.

But nowhere in the very design and purpose of MMORPG's has the genre ever been about making Grouping mandatory or the sole purpose of MMORPG's.

Because that's why I played Destiny was PvP...I was even pretty good in the crucible, but I realized how toxic PvP players are(especially when you beat them)...so I stopped playing Destiny and PvP all together and started playing ESO pve exclusively. I'm too old for the salt anymore... just wanna chill!!

    Magblade for both.

My long-term goal is Dro-m'Athra Destroyer as a magblade healer. I'm sure it will be tough, but healing vet dungeons is going so well that I have to give it a shot.

My main is a Magik Templar, CP 390, using shock destro staff

Her main attack is to lite up everything around her with Purifying Light, cast a Channeled Focus rune at her feet, and let them come at her; once near, hit them with Pulsar and use Puncturing Sweep to finish them off. If they are still alive by the time Purifying Light wears off, hit them again as this regenerates health.

If a boss, use Eye of the Storm staff ultimate and repeated uses of Pulsar and Puncturing Sweep.

I used to PvP with her, she was mainly a healer as I'd lite them up with Purifying Light and that would heal my peeps, and would also use her major DPS, but got tired of getting one shot killed (at full health) by stam dragon knights and knightblades shooting me from roofs of castles, or floating mages with endless meteors.

I am working on leveling 2 magic sorcs, and my main will be only used for crafting and writs as she has 8 and 9 traits across the boards.

    'cos cheaters ruin your fun.

Many cheaters log in via a cheat service that allows them to be invisible, float, have endless ultimate and it's no fun when one such teminates a full group of 20 people with a meteor bombing run the likes a B52 would be proud of. Or when a dragon knight standing on the roof of a castle defends it single handedly vs a horde of good players because he can one shot kill you from a distance that is out of your range but does not seem to stop him at all.

So after all that you just walk away and go do pledges, or world bosses, or level another char.

I don't ever pvp (bare minimum to get vigor/warhorn) because I rather play the "co-op" game in trials rather than the "vs" game of pvp. Theres a lot of people in pvp that are toxic and tear others down whereas in pve you are working together to achieve a goal so you generally aren't against each other.

Pve doesn't mean solo, and I find it a lot of fun to know the insides and out of a trial.

Because PvP is the single most miserable experience in the history of gaming. Now back to the topic.

My main is a stamDK tank. Slow, brutal and in your face is my style, although recently I've been exploring other types of play. If nothing else, the sheer amount of time I need to kill stuff gets frustrating. PvP does not exist.

Because I hate PvP. I like cooperation between players, not pitting them against each other.

    And why I play MMOs:

More lively world when I can see other players runnig around and do things. So atmosphere.
Occasional cooperation in dungeons etc. Not grouping or speaking, though. That would be too social for me.
    More realistic trading.

So I like to see other players avatars on the world but rarely want to interact with them.

And as ESO is MMORGP, how much do you RPG?

    Agreed!

There is also this argument that players are more interesting to fight than a well-crafted AI. I disagree. If you know your class really well, you know exactly what moves an enemy player has; all that varies is the timing/spacing, and whether they have better latency, or just cheat.

Now if the devs would get creative; allow players to impersonate all the Delve Bosses/Dolmen Denizens/etc. in Cyrodiil, and give them AP (or Molag Bal points for different goodies or whatever) based on how many players they take out before falling, that would interest me for PvP.

Until then, I enjoy all classes, both Mag&Stam, but Sorc (1 of each) are the favorites to tackle the most difficult PvE content.
