Crafted armour, dropped sets, oh PLEASE!!

I can acquire lots and lots of new styles for armour..... I really like the assassins league one, cool.
You know what I am going to say, right?

bis slot nowadays is dropped. So you go farm for it.... you fight for it. you acquire the monster helms, the dropped set your little heart lusted after.
But.... you are a fashionista..... and your char looks like a bag lady with a dead animal on her head, Hmm, not quite what I was aiming for here.

I have kinda lost interest in the style sets motifs that drop, because the sets I can make are so inferior to the drop ones I have to farm for.

Now if I could go farm those motifs, and then change the style of that monster helm/armour/ weapon I would be really happy.

Or of course, ZOS could make the crafted sets a bit better than the dropped ones.
Eighteen months to get my crafter to 9 level sets across the board and now...... what a waste of time.

Not only BiS, but anything viable is dropped.

All the crafted, one after all are very bad, Julianos is still meh but there's so many better options.

Transmog is what everyone is asking but it doesn't look like they ever gonna implement it

    Make crafting great again! Lol

But serisously make it great again.... it's useless for anything but upgrading, writs and equipping new toons you're leveling...

Crafted sets either need to become viable again (Julianos is still decent but is obsolete and aside from Tova's for tanks everything else is sub par as well) or they need to allow the master crafters to transmog items.

Transmog would be the only way, buffing crafted sets would just be temporary, or if you wanted to use a dropped set it would still look horrible.

If you can't transmog items, how about personalized Costumes made by the player from known motifs? Each piece could be individualized and wouldn't mess with trading or the items themselves. Plus costumes are already a thing.

I just hate the look of the monster sets..... I love Grothdarr.... exploding in a ring of lava is very very satisfying and Illambris dropping lightening all over the mobs ... yay!
    But.
    They
    DON'T
    look
    good.......

I want them to be a stylish helm but have the same properties. I put a lot of time into farming them, I also farmed, traded and begged for style motifs,
But I can't put them together...

    What's your take on this?

    Transmog System
Since the Coffers that are now sold by the Quartermaster are responsible for dropping the shoulders, that means that the Undaunted chests serve no real purpose apart from some soul gems and gold. So, how can these be made useful?

I propose a method to allow players to Transmog dropped dungeon gear with a specific motif in mind.

This is how it would work:

The old Undaunted Chests would now Contain random junk/crafting items, and be called "Pillage Chests". With an off-chance of dropping a rare crafting material. These materials would be: Imbued Hide Scrap for medium armor, Imbued Cloth Scrap for light armor, Imbued Metal Scrap for heavy armor and melee weapons, Imbued Wood Scrap for shield bows and staves. They would be Purple Quality, sell for 100g at a merchant, be Unbound, and have the flavor text: An Undaunted Scholars attempt to imbue the energy found within a dungeon failed spectacularly

These Imbued Scraps would be used with existing set items in order to "Transmog" the item.

Though it will not be as simple as gluing on bits and pieces of a material to change the look of your armor. The player must use the Imbued pieces, trait, style material, and the set piece they want to Transmog at an attuned crafting station for that set. An attuned set crafting station can be created by using a set cipher with an unattuned crafting station.

The Cipher can be obtained as a rare drop from a Veteran Hard Mode Boss, and can be one of the sets dropped in that dungeon. the Cipher is Unbound, Gold Quality, sells for 500g to a merchant, and has the flavor text: This crucial piece of information describes in detail the nature of some of the energies found within this dungeon.

This is how you would go about Transmoging your own dungeon set items:
Acquiring the specific set Cipher either from the vet boss or a player selling it
Acquire an unattuned attunable Crafting Station
Use the Cipher with the Crafting Station
Skip the above steps if you find a player willing to let you use the station (think guilds)
Have the Gear piece you want to "Transmog" (Traits are not crafted on, so if you want to transmog a divines chest, you need a divines chest from grinding.)
Have the Trait Researched for the Gear piece you want to "Transmog" (if you have divines chest, you need to have the divines chest trait researched)
Have the needed number of Infused Pieces for your desired level, gotten by the undaunted "pillage" chests or bought from players.
Have the trait and style material.
Have the needed crafting skill for your desired level.
Craft that piece (while consuming the dropped version)
The resulting piece is now Bind on Pickup (Bound to you)

Taken from my Undaunted Overhaul idea.

Edit: Monster sets would likely have some kind of station located somewhere around the dungeon.

Sounds like a great idea, hell, just stick it in the crown store if that's what it takes to get it made! I don't care, just give me a reason to go hunting for dropped sets cos if it's a choice between doing vet content hunting for sets that always look terrible and instead sticking to normal content and crafted gear well I'm sorry but I'll stick to crafted. I'm not farming for gear that looks garbage, no matter how powerful it is :/

It's not as if the costumes to hide it are a good alternative, most are not even armour and those that are are just the basic stuff from the launch version of the game, you know, like those spray on rubber suits the Breton knights wear :|

    Hide the head slot.

I support being able to change the appearance of any dropped armor that is of a style we know to a style we know. It would require an item that would be added to the master voucher vendor and require one piece for each item restyled.

I hope this counts for monstersets too. I really hate the look of Velidreth. She looks like a glazed pineapple that's left alone on the shelf at the store.

I'm just waiting for ZoS to wise up and add transmogrification. Collecting motifs for now in anticipation of that. Though I still will not buy a single motif off of the crown store unless transmogrification is implemented.

Monsters are happy looking like monsters :)
    Most players want other looks

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

You can keep your ugly ass Veli just as she is, but that doesn't mean the rest of the ESO world wants to keep her.

As an avid TES fan and 9-trait crafter I am in agreement CRAFTING NEEDS HELP. Although, perhaps for different reasons. Crafted sets CAN actually still put out competitive numbers. The main thing that is missing is the proc effects and build diversity.

It started off totally awesome, with the BiS being an either/or proposition with most people mixing in crafted sets. This gradually declined to where today with One Tamriel, crafted sets are virtually unused and only 2-3 per spec is even in circulation. Basically:
    • Hundings/Night Mother for Stamina.
    • Julianos/Torug for Magicka.
    • Tavas/Armor Master/MAYBE Hist for tanks.
    • Kagrenac/Magnus/Seducer for healers.
    • Twice Born Star for niche builds.

The rest of the sets might as well not exist, and with most of these there are equivalent or superior drop sets available. The main problem is:
    1. We lack a PROPER transmog system to allow crafters to customized 1T drop sets.
    2. ZOS has STILL not added the ability to craft set jewelry or upgrade jewelry. This needs to be a top priority!

Also, most of the drop sets are just MORE INTERESTING. Take Spell Power Cure. The proc effect off overheals looks and feels AWESOME. Where is the crafted equivalent of the "proc meta?"

This I think is a bigger problem than any hypothetical power gap, which is largely a fabrication and totally unfounded outside of EXTREME cases like world first and leaderboard-chasing speed trials where everyone is expected to chase a min-max meta for 5-10% more spreadsheet numbers, which isn't a very fun way to play for the majority of people.
