Why are the prices on Morrowind for Russia so weird?

I'm pretty sure there are lots of Russian players here, and the only question that really bothers me is: why is the Digital Collector's Edition Upgrade so expensive for us?

When ESO: Morrowind was announced, they said: 60$ for Morrowind Digital Collector's Edition Upgrade and 40$ for usual Morrowind Upgrade. So the ratio is 1.5.
But when I open the ESO Store for Russia I see horrible difference: 3999Rub for Morrowind Digital Collector's Edition Upgrade and 1399Rub for Morrowind Upgrade. The ratio is 2.86. And I think I saw that the price on Collector's Edition was 1999Rub the day when Morrowind was announced, after that it changed.

Is there anyone who can explain the reason of such a high price on Collector's Edition? @ZOS_GinaBruno maybe you can provide me some info about that (or who should I ask), please?
I'm really frustrated because 4k Rub for an upgrade (even Collector's) is too overpriced and doesn't even seem to be logical. Support could not say anything about that and adviced me to write here.
P.S.: Sorry for the mistakes.

    This is probably why: http://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/convert/?Amount=60&From=USD&To=RUB
    60 USD =3,482.47RUB

I would imagine they work off a set/established conversion rate, they probably don't alter the costs to reflect current changes in the value of currency.

But then 40 USD should be 2,321.48RUB. And the usual Morrowind Upgrade is not 2k, it's 1.4k, that's weird.

where i am i have to pay an extra $12.00 compared to someone in england for the standard upgrade, its a ripoff cause of the conversion rates.

Yeah, if I wanted just Morrowind Upgrade, I'd call it a good deal :) But the Collector's one doesn't look like it should be so expensive... imho

Average salary in russia barely allows to buy digital content for full price. Most of the retailers use special pricing for poor countries - because when price is not affordable noone buys product. At the moment i can say i would not spend 4k rubles for a game, could spend 2000 though. So basically i was ready to pay 2000 rubles, but since it's no more an option i will spend only 1400. Since content is digital, it is a loss of profit for seller.

Yes, this seems to be the case for all Morrowind CE Upgrades outside the US. We gotta pay 10€ more for our horse armor.

Because bank fees. You can't just collect money in a foreign currency and bank it spot on at that conversion rate. There will be fees involved. For instance for me to pay in a cheque in CAD to my UK account that I did recently I had to drop 4% outright AND pay it at the banks exchange rate which if course goes in thier favour. Essentially a cheque worth £655 went in at £598.

We have bankers bonuses to look after you know.

They've always used regional price differences.

For example, those in the UK and Australia pay $10 USD less for their 5500 crown packs compared to Americans.

I could understand it if both -- usual and CE -- were a bit higher in price for Russia than America. But the regular Morrowind Upgrade is cheaper, and the CE Morrowind Upgrade is more expensive.

I wonder if it's something regular for all Collector's Editions in ESO or just for Morrowind... I never tried to compare the prices before, maybe there's always such a big difference between usual and CE/Gold/Imperial/etc. edition...

There is a simple answer to that. Do not buy what you cannot afford. Rather than playing a game you can't buy go and find a good job. Period.

Lol did you not see he said "average salary" as in what most average people with ok jobs make. Different countries have different salaries and wealth.

Im sure if the poster could make more money they would. As most people with jobs would obviously love to make more than they do, but you can't just go make an employer pay you more. Especially considering you are already getting paid the average amount for your country.

If the person was not working at all your post might have merit. But someone working in a country whose over all salaries are lower can't just go "find a better job" as you say. Everyone doesn't live in a country with ample job opportunities with room to gain higher wages.

You know, in some countries "good salary" might be lower than unemployment compensation in your country... Just saying.

It's infuriating that anyone still tells anyone to pull them up by their bootstraps and "find a job". It's the pinnacle of apathy.
