[Resolved] Launcher/game update - what gives? (PC/NA)

My PC crashed and after the restart my ESO launcher is "updating". Seems to be taking a long time about it too - either the source site is very slow, or the update is huge. So what is in the update?

Update: launcher disappeared so I restarted it... and I'm downloading a 1.6GB patch.... does this mean I'm going to be a Morrowind pre-release tester?

Sometimes when the PC crashes information is lost. It's possible all your settings are lost as well.

Possible, not a guarantee but brace yourself.

No you don't. Your system crashed causing corruption. Launcher is fixing those corruptions with replacement files.

Update: I figured it out. What happened is that my PC booted to my BACKUP disk drive, which was an image from a few months ago. This caused the launcher to re-download the Homestead update, to update my old image. Took me a while to figure out that I was missing a bunch of other data too. Just had to re-enable (and test) the primary hard disk, disable the backup drive again, and everything was hunky dory once more.
