These days I go down the list of 5 characters picking up hireling mail and doing crafting writs (plus any research and horse training).
Then, if it's night in game, I log into my (annoying) sorc and run between vamp spawn points picking up mats as I go. If it's day I try to do some main story quests on one of my 2 mains

Almost religiously feed horses, then writs. It's funny that you asked today of all days since yesterday that wasn't the case. Yesterday I had my first proper (non-PUG) vet trial run so I had to make sure I was completely ready so I was crafting potions and leveling up a skill to be morphed. By the time I was done I had forgotten about my writs and horses and that's why I (almost) always do that stuff first.
Collect my hireling and sold item mails, then train riding skills on each character that needs them, then check the daily pledges to see if i want to bother with them or not.
1. Check mail to see how much I've sold overnight
2. Do writs, research traits and feed horses
3. Put on market things I don't need that I got from the writs, like master writs, motifs or materials
I've got a thriving Guild that is a refuge for the Solo player, so first things I'm doing is inviting new members who message me that they want an invite, promoting newer members, checking out how the Guild is faring in Banked Items as well as Store sales, etc.
Then I chit chat with the Officers that might be on to see how the Guild has been doing in my absence.
Then I do my Daily Quests (Black Sacraments [Hail Sithis.], Mage's Guild, Fighter's Guild, Writs, etc.). After that? I just relax and run around. Knock of a Dolmen here... run through a Public Dungeon or Delve there... hunt a couple of my few remaining Skyshards... basically, I just run around and enjoy this game.

You're all so busy! I open my map to see where I am unless I'm in a city. Then I check my journal to remind myself where I wanted to go. Then I check my inventory to see if I need to dump stuff. Then I find a wayshrine and head out into the wherever.
The very first thing I do is wait for Master Merchant to stop bogging me down.
From there, right now,, I go do the dailies I picked up the night before and didn't finish while waiting for writs and dailies to reset. After that I go do writs on 2 characters and turn in/pick up new dailies. If I time it right, I'm getting 18-24 boxes a day. Also feed the one horse I am trying to finish. Some running around with a friend that is leveling their very first character.
I generally only have about 2 hours or so a day to play so I have to pack in as much as humanly possible.

it's interesting that the "concept" although attributed to genghis khan was not recorded until 100 years after his death...needless to say no one had their smart phone out recording the initial conversation
supposedly what he had said went something like this:
This conqueror once asked to noyan Bourgoudji, one of his first generals, what was, in his opinion, the delight of man. "It is", he said, "to go to the hunt, a spring day, mounted on a beautiful horse, holding his fist on a hawk or a falcon, and see it cut down its prey." The prince made the same question to General Bourgoul, and then to other officers, who all answered as Bourgoudji. "No," said Chingiz Khan, "the greatest enjoyment of a man is to overcome his enemies, drive them before him, snatch what they have, to see the people to whom they are dear with their faces bathed in tears, to ride their horses, to squeeze in his arms their daughters and women."
yeah, i'm guessing 'ol genghis would have been a teabagger extremist...
