There's already an option for that. Not sure if it prevents item use though. I use multiple armor/weapon configs on my character depending on what I'm doing (http://www.esoui.com/downloads/info1128-DressingRoom.html). I use it so I don't vendor or deconstruct armor/weapons that I have set up.

Saturnana✭✭✭✭✭I really wouldn't enjoy more pop-ups and messages/warnings, the game already has plenty of those.. IF they decide to add another, I'll be on the hunt for an add-on to turn them off again. In the mean time OP, I use the Advanced Filters add-on and it lets you filter on subsets of your inventory categories. So whenever I open these boxes, I'm in the 'container' part of my Consumables, and thus the only things I'll be able to Use from my inventory are boxes.
Really handy if you want to make sure you don't accidentally use anything else. @Saturnna | PC / EU

If you fail to pay attention, its your own darn fault.
As long as you take your time and do it leisurely, it would not be a problem, right? Then you would not inadvertedly learn the motiv on some non-crafter character, but carefully place it into your bank, to be withdrawn and learned by your crafter alt, yes?
No game I know of that has anything like consumable skill books, crafting learnings, or such ever had any function to prevent this, or reverse a hasty choice.
So, take the lession for what it is, and pay more attention in the future?

One thing that -could- be done though was making containers and consumables seperate in inventory... like, motivs/recipes in the consumable tab, and containers in the misc tab... that way you would not learn a consumable skill book when opening numerous containers...1 -

I'm on console, so there are no add-ons to help here.

Lithium Flower✭✭✭✭FCO itemSaver addon lets you lock down any damn thing. I've use it on gear, consumables, motifs and master writs and additionally I love that it doesn't hide the item from the crafting window. That way I can deconstruct something that's out lived it's use during my routine decrafting. Further, advanced filters separates bags from other items and lets me spam click through the boxes without any danger of accidents.
That said, been here since Launch and yes addons are a huge huge help but a little care and focus goes a long way, and I never managed to do a stupid three times in a week!

pattyLtd✭✭✭✭✭I have done this too several times and now immidiately put the motifs i receive in my bank to prevent it from happening again.
I agree with those that say "slow down" because for me it's the main reason these kinda things happen to me.
Other similar things i've done repeatedly that fit this category are.
+ Accidently deconstruct valuable items (like elegant sharpened sword when it was still hot).
+ Buy the wrong jewelry piece from the golden vendor.
+ Buy alot of worthless white gear from a merchant thinking i was on the sell tab.
+ Craft CP160 gear without selecting the set gear tab first.
+ and the list goes on....
Can't really blame the game for any of this all i can say to myself when this happens is "slow down woman" lol.
I guess a confirmation box wouldn't be too bad but when pressing buttons this rapidly it might not always be sufficient and it can be annoying for when you don't mess up and just want to do stuff quick which is the case most of the time.English is not my native language, no grammar police please, tyvm2 -

SirCritical✭✭✭✭✭That feeling, when you have lots of characters, with a dedicated crafter, on which you spend quite a long time, but you log in with another char, just to deposit something in your bank, and you reveal some expensive motif-pages there, which you withdraw, then press "I" to open your inventory, consume the motifs, then you press "I" again to exit the inventory, and realizing the smiling face of your non-crafter.... Definitely, this is not the "misclick-category", but the Elder Inventory Management Online....0 -

Good advice. i admit i tend to rush these things, as my time with this game is very limited - much life in real world. As much as i appreciate these special events, they bring me a fair amount of frustration for various reasons. Thought sharing some would not be a bad idea, as it eases the pain when i know others deal with similar issues.
Sadly, there are others who enjoy adding to the pain (you know who you are), oh well...0 -
