What do I do? I'm trying to level my first toon to level fifty and I'm at level 36 now. I've found that he bores me now and I can't progress further with him because I get bored playing him. But I've put so much time into him. What should I do? Get rid of him and start a new character? Or do something different with him. Thank you.

Fight through it. You'll hit bad spots during leveling that make it boring or tedious to continue, but it'll get better.

Try changing your weapon, armor, or skill set to make things more interesting. Keep in mind that any class can play as a magicka or stamina based damage dealer, magicka or stamina based tank, or as a healer. Maybe a different setup would be more appealing to you.

I had similar issues with my nightblade main. I've been playing that character for basically 3 years now, and always been stamina dps. It got to the point where I started using him just for crafting. Then I tried out a sap tank build and it's like a whole new life for that character.

The important thing is to just stick with it though. If you start creating and bouncing between alts / other characters, you'll never hit 50 and you'll never start getting champion points.

    I assume you've been questing ?
The way a character is played when questing has little to nothing to do with the way you play it at endgame, when you really have to fulfill your role. You might just as well enjoy your character again then. I think it's not your character that is "boring", but the questing. Overworld and quests are a bit too easy and there are too many mobs, so that the levelling by questing can gets really boring. But that would happen with any class.

    Suggestions :
    - change gear. Get some fun sets with special effects. Change your skillbar. It will probably change your playstyle and it will feel somewhat new.
    - Go Cyrodiil and Imperial City. The risk of encountering enemy players at every corner keeps the thrill alive.

perfect question...grinding can get super tedious...sometimes it's good to follow a quest through and listen/read all the dialogue...take your character to places you haven't been to for awhile...

How long have you taken to get to 36? How many hours do you play? Maybe you're just playing too much to keep the game fresh.

Try a different character, a different game even, just spread things out a bit. If it becomes a chore, then you're doing it wrong!

If you can stomach it, just take your time and maybe break up your gaming sessions. I can honestly say that playing at a relaxed pace, or sometimes not playing at all for a couple of days, has meant that I rarely become bored of playing or levelling a character. When I do, or if i'm not really in the mood, I won't play.

The only time i felt like this was when I lvl'd up a stam DK. Goddddddddddddd it was dull and that was during a double xp event too. I persevered and now have a lvl'd DK for the day I ever decide to learn how to play one. I doubt i will though as it was an incredibly dull affair. I also need a good few skill points on it too before it even became viable to use.

I think that's why i love magplars so much. They face roll early lvls. In fact, they face roll 99.9999% of pve from lvl 1 to cp600.

It is a stam DK @Prof_Bawbag. @FriedEggSandwich I think it's just the type of character. I have always been bored by standard "knight styles" the heavy armor, 2h and 1h and shield build. Even in Skyrim and oblivion. But he's my first character and I've gotten pretty far. I'm not a grinder and I don't do PvP so I'm not concerned with min/maxing foo best builds ya know? I have two other characters. A NB who's only level 12 and will eventually be a vamp. who o enjoy playing but wanted to try and finish main story and content with my main before jumping into my other characters. And I have a level 8 sorc who is ebenhart pact. So basically I have an archetype character, each in one of the three alliances and ones a ww ones a vamp and the others normal. I had a lot of do with the DK before but now he's just getting dull. Hmmmm

Stam characters are more boring. Magicka DKs are far more fun because you get to experiment with all the unique class skills. Just because the Stam DK was first doesn't mean he is your main.

Just play one of the other characters. If none of them are fun, maybe the game just isn't for you.

Also, you can switch to medium armor and ditch the sword and shield. Go for DPS.

Go DPS. Use dual wield and bow. Use mostly medium armor. Use the stamina skill morphs. Pump all or almost all of your attribute points into stamina. It won't feel like a knight anymore.

One hand and shield is better used for tanking. If you want some better DPS and action with a Stam DK, use dual wield. There's some decent build guides out there that can help you set up a good skill rotation to make it worthwhile.

You're not going to enjoy every class as you've now found it. Lvl it quickly during the event then leave it and go back to what you enjoy. At least you'll have the class there if you ever decide to go back to it and it will save you hours of having to do it all over again. I don't enjoy Stam DK's and Sorcs, yet have both if I ever change my mind.

First I would find a guild who can help you in game with these things. That is what they are there for. And the social aspect of the game is what keeps me coming back. Of course there are times that I just want to do my quests and dailies solo and to be left alone, but for the most part, it's people that make this fun for me. Helpful guilds, can also make you training armor, give set advice and help run dungeons and other things that will make the leveling process go by a bit faster. You won't get very far after 50 without the help of others, so if you are scared or intimidated by the social part of the game, may now be a good time to get over that. All the best wishes for you and hope you stick it out and get that CP level.

As someone said earlier in the post, go into Cyrodiil. Whole new learning experience and you'll level up pretty quickly early on. The fact that you're hunting and being hunted adds to that experience, imo.

Leveling a Stam DK is in fact a chore. But once you have enough skill points, fighter's guild skills unlocked.. they are fun to play, especially if you go out the "meta" guidlines (since you are mostly soloing and in open world). Also, if you don't like the "knight" kind of character, wear medium armor (at least 5 pieces of it), go Dual wield and Bow (this is actually the meta for any stam DD in PvE).

You can also try combos that any min/maxer wouldn't recommend you.
Example: from a distance, use bombard (bow morph) to root a bunch of mobs then Take Flight (the dragon leap ultimate) right in the middle of them and finish them off with 1 or 2 spins of Steel Tornado (whirlwind DW morph) = f.u.n.

Or use set combos that might not be the most effective, but are fun to play.
Example: ask for a crafted Eternal Hunt elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Eternal+Hunt+Set. Pair that with Hide of the Morihaus elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Hide+of+Morihaus+Set (drops really easily in the gold coast, probably easy to find in guild traders, you'll need jewelry and 2 body pieces or 2 weapons)) and just roll dodge in the middle of mob packs like a bowling ball, finish off spinning around with Steel Tornado = f.u.n.

There's a lot of stuff that is not meta, not as effective but really fun to play, just keep trying new stuff, move on when you're bored :)

I personally wouldn't delete it, unless you need a character slot.

Use it as storage for a while and then gradually level it up. The character may come in handy some day when you are doing pledges and can't find a tank.

If you want a friend, get a dog.

There is no point playing if you are bored. Make a different character, do something different like try PVP or some DLC if you haven't started yet, otherwise why not just take a break from playing ESO? You can always play again later.

I can relate... I've created and deleted so many characters due to boredom or just generally not liking my character concept, this was mostly before we had access to race change tokens... now I simply change to a different race if I get bored with a character concept.

However, I have changed 'main' characters many times... my idea of a main is the one you are currently playing the most, not the one who has advanced (quest wise) the farthest. Right now my most advanced is a Stamsorc, but I'm currently playing my Magplar and having fun with that... when I get bored, I swap back to my Stamsorc. ;)

Switch it up to magicka. You are not playing hardcore end game content, so it does not matter if you are a redguard mdk for example. Bored with 2h/s&b? Why not try destro/resto? Or dual wield/destro?
I play one character right now myself, dunmer templar. I've tanked, healed and dps (stam and mag) on it, I just switch when I get bored with one build.

The game may not be for you it isn't for everyone.

If you are all about PVP or the Raid....the game isn't for you, oh there is PVPing and Raiding in game but it's not what most people play ESO for. There are a butt load of TES players, disenchanted WoW players, and "omfg I hate Raiding" players.

There are a lot of other MMO's surely one you won't feel bored with, or maybe you don't like MMO's at all.

Players don't seem to be reading the OP's replies, one of his replies was, "I'm not a grinder and I don't do PvP so I'm not concerned with min/maxing foo best builds ya know? "
He also stated other characters/class he IS enjoying playing, however, because his StamDK is at the highest level, he wants to keep playing in order to reach 50.

However, if OP isn't enjoying playing the StamDK, reaching level 50 will do nothing for him if he doesn't find a way to enjoy playing a DK. I'd suggest switching to Magicka because I find a Magicka DK a lot more fun to play than StamDK, but overall I find both to be quite boring.

It doesn't take long to reach level 50 on ANY character, and right now with the anniversary event you can get double XP and if you use Crown Scrolls (on sale today) you can level extremely quick.

So to OP I'd suggest they switch to the character/class that they DO enjoy playing and drop the DK if it doesn't appeal to them. Since ESO doesn't offer class changes, leveling a class you don't enjoy will be pointless since you only gain CP on the character that you are USING and that character has to reach level 50 first.
