TANK QUESTION

bee keeper and black rose? People say it's a God tank set. I seen one of the best tanks if not the best on the NA Xbox server use it. The guy stood there and blocked the whole time. Pvp. I think he said the heavy passive works with black rose to give back resources. True?

Black Rose does amplify the Constitution passive from Heavy Armour skill line but the bonus is not one to write home about.

People forget that Constitution itself will never be a good substitute to the regular stam/mag regen(s). It only works every 4 seconds and you are required to get hit for the passive to activate.
Anyone's stam & mag regens are already very low if they utilise 7 piece of Heavy Armour (the passive scales with each Heavy Armour pieces you have on).

Also, blocking temporarily disables stam regen and Constitution so there's no way the guy blocked the whole time.

Currently, there are better sets for tanking like Reactive or 2pc Pirate Skeleton. I personally use 5pc Reactive and 5pc Alessian Order/2pc Pirate Skeleton if I go full-on tank. Reactive and Alessian will sound counter-intuitive in terms of their purpose in tanking but infrequent CC-breaks are always better.
I'm not a pro-tank or anything but I find that those sets really work well together in PvP.

I wasn't aware blocking disabled constitution returns, since you are still taking damage, just mitigated damage. Are we sure about this?

You can have up to 1800 every 4 seconds from constitution thats same as 900 stam regen while blocking.

Apologies, friend. It only disables the stam regen returns from Constitution but not magicka.

Your stamina won't regenerate while blocking and Constitution does not bypass that.

You're wrong, constitution still works while blocking. I just tested it, went to a world boss and used all my stamina and started blocking, I was getting stamina back from hits.

    This is only partially correct.

Blocking only sets stamina regeneration to zero, but does not prevent stamina gains from sources other than base regeneration. Potions (not the major endurance part, but the instant stamina boost), spear shards, repentence, Master's restoration staff, and Constitution (just to name a few) will all continue to give stamina like normal even while blocking.

Using block cost reduction from CP, enchantments, and Sturdy gear it is possible to build perma-blocking tanks that only regenerate stamina through Constitution. Black Rose would simply reduce the need for these various sources of cost reduction to maintain a permanent block.

Just run a stam dk with fury and something for sustain.

You can tank a small zerg but also kill people.

These 40k health perma block idiots get ignored by any player with half a brain.

Also, related to this, does syrabane's bonus give back magicka while blocking with a frost staff? A friend had specced into this and used a frost staff to block. I could see the proc animations but he said he wasn't gaining magicka from the spells he was blocking

It should work. Perhaps he was getting the Magicka back but since it was used to block his magicka bar didn't actually move.

Will have to test more but I think he said his magicka wouldn't move back even when i was just light attacking with a lightning staff at controlled intervals

    Is this pvp or pve?

in pvp i was a mag dk, and tanked just fine with a lot of resources with 5 rattlecage (i wore it before it was cool), 5 seducers, 2 alessia's bulwark

as a magicka build, you can really take advantage of the earthen heart passives and keep your stam high.

    massive aoe and cc ability

    survivability

plenty of spell dmg thanks to rattlecage

EDIT: this setup translated very well to VDSA and pledge dungeons as well
