I move on or if I'm in a particularly fussy mood.. throw a mudball at them THEN move on. One time I got into a mudball fight with someone, it was pretty funny.

The individual with questionable ethics is obviously feeling grumpy, so I bestow, with great generosity, a cherry blossom branch. This of course makes them very happy, and they never even consider stealing a node again, because that would be wrong, and now they are perfectly compassionate and think only of others. They may even adopt a gaming life of showing other players where the best nodes and chests are, to atone for previous misbehavior.

I'm bashing these people. That usually makes me feel better and I forget about it.
Once when someone get the chest before me (it was master) I lured some mobes to disturb him. It worked. But loot was really bad.

Ive actually done it a couple times. Just didn't see the other person. Once it was at night, the other time, not sure. Just the angle my camera was at or something.

And there was once in the Coldharbor quest where you collect flowers. I grabbed some, only distantly aware of someone fighting a spider daedra to one side. As I moved away, they fired shots at me, and I realized they had killed the daedra to get at the node.

Ah, I feel better having confessed.

sometimes you just get distracted from your surroundings .

I usually don't give a damn. But there are some special folks out there that beg for special treatment:
Just run some meters ahead. Pull everything within reach and when it's near you and the notorious node thief: cloak. Oh the hate tells! That's why NB>Sorc for farming.

I accidentally took a chest from someone because I didn't think they were looking in their bags for a lockpick. They whispered me, I mailed them everything that was in the chest plus a stack of lockpicks and now we're friends

I usually find myself simply veering off into a different direction. I haven't encountered that many binge harvesters or "locusts" as I call them.

I usually see people that harvest in a straight line while they are running to get somewhere specific. I typically see them just run off in one direction - harvesting as they go. I just assume that they are oblivious to their surroundings - kind of like the commuters on the 205/580 between Modesto and Oakland.

I only get off my horse when I see multiple nodes right next to each other, so him picking one means he doesn't have time to get another.

In addition I can easily notice those that don't have keen sight when they skip ancestor silk, and I usually luck out since people go for the nodes I have low on my priority while I take a higher priority one.

If they beat you to the node, you need to beat them to the next and the next. Reporting?! Muhahahaha. It's not against the ToS to be more efficient than another player. You're just wasting their time. Also, their is lag that sometimes makes it look like you beat them there but they likely see it differently on their screen.

Will the disorient from the consumable stop players from being able to interact with the node/chest? This by far sounds like the best use of the consumable version if so. At least till people start crying *** over it.

On the flip side it also may be a good way to steal nodes...

I don't know if they get the disorient. They never told me. Off to the testing grounds!

And yes, a very good ninja way to steal nodes if they get the disorient effect.

I just wait to see what direction they're going in and I go in a different one. There's plenty of nodes around for everyone. Besides, due to latency, what you think is happening could be quite different to what the other person sees - you may think you reached the node first, they think they did. IMO, it's just not worth getting worked up over this.

I give the other guy lots of abuse

I cuss out the player in zone chat. Then for the next 10 minutes I shadow them and steal every node they try to go for.

I don't mind when someone gets to a node a split second faster than me. That's fair game. But it takes a special kind of dirtbag to steal a node from someone who has aggroed the mob next to the node. You either help to kill the mob (at which point, the node is fair game for both players) or you move along.

The onus is on the farmer to make it clear they want the node. They need to be standing on top of it.

This is why when someone literally CLIPS INTO my character to steal the node, I get pissed off. These are probably players who engage in actual theft in real life.

Most likely, I will write about how that very person bested me. Than again, why can't we share? We don't own that node. Our names are not on there. Sure, maybe we where there first. But at times, that other person might need that node more than you. Maybe. Who knows for sure?
