I keep reading about crafting certain armor for what role you are playing as but no one says how to do this or where to go? Is there a guide that will explain everything? I have read as a magic based character to get julianos (not sure if that is spelled right) but how do i do that. I know almost nothing about crafting items as i usually just use what i get from drops.

You need to research traits to build gear if you want it to be useful. So take gear you get from mobs to any crafting station and research the ones with the best traits first (sharpened for weapons, impenetrable and divines for armor).

To make gear sets each piece of the set you create must have x many traits researched.

So Julian's is a 6 trait gear. So for any piece whether it staff or armor needs to have 6 traits researched. Doesn't matter what 6. Just that you have at least six. With max skill points into research it takes about a month to get 6 traits on something.

To upgrade you need upgrade mats which is easiest to get from deconstructing things. Put skill points into decon and upgrade mats. So it costs much less to upgrade gear.

I'm not home but will be in a few hours. At work right now. If you on Xbox NA shoot me a message BehelitApostle. I can make this for you if you need it.

Go into a city and look at your map for a crafting location. It should look like a fire symbol. Find a clothier work table there. It will have an animal hide stretched out on it. Interact with that to begin crafting a piece of light or medium armor.

Julianos is a set found in the Wrothgar zone. Special sets have to be crafted at their specific location.

You will need crafting materials like cloth gathered from plants in the world, style materials, and trait materials. It can be kind of overwhelming at first. Best bet is to get a guild buddy to give you some materials and walk you through the process of doing a crafting writ.

Julianos require 6 trait as said, you also need to know the trait you will be using and this will be divine unless you still level, in that case you want training.
You want to unlock the research three items at once passive and later the one who reduce research time and cap it at 30 days.
    http://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Traits

As an magic user research up to 4 traits on say on all light armor and perhaps one medium first then go for 6 traits.
Also do woodworking, you want one character to do clothing, woodwork and smith because of the motifs, perhaps have another for the other crafting skills because of recipes and enchaining take a long time to level.
So it will take 32 days to get julianos, best tips is to start but ask some in guild to craft it for you.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

yes, there are set armors+weapons ("armor sets"), which help a healer, a damage or a tank character. you can choose to either use crafted set items or to get a dropped set gear (which drops from monsters or as rewards for undaunted pledges). usually people combine dropped sets + monster set or crafted set + monster set or crafted set + dropped set

Each of the set gives bonuses to character stats, depending on how many pieces of the same set you are currently wearing on your character.

check this out to get an idea what are they about:

I would recommend to go to youtube and search "eso crafting guide", "eso traits guide", "eso bis sets" (bis means "best in slot" - meaning best for a certain type of character)

and check out some guides there, there are plenty of good ones.

generally if you need a guide for something about eso, go to either google, or youtube and seach "eso ......guide" and you find tons of guides there ;) (for example "eso woodworking guide", or "eso leveling guide", or "eso fishing guide" and so on)

or just ask here on the forum as you did ;)
