stamsorc - weapon type?

So my stamsorc is nearing 50. I managed to get the ravager set (jewelry, boots, and gloves) really cheap, and I'm going to craft a set of Hundings rage to compliment it (dual wield/bow and 3 armor). Will be running storm fist as the monster set.

All that said, when it comes to my weapons, what should I be running? Daggers, swords, or maces? I'm assuming I'll want everything sharpened for the penetration bonus.

Dual daggers, I have tried everything else and there is no real reason not to have 10% more crit on a sorc, as that is were the healing comes from.

That said, you still have a ways to go, you need to get to Champion point 160 before your build really matters, level 50 is basically only a third of the way to end game builds.

I'm a stam sorc main and it really depends on your play style. I've ran S&B/Black Rose/Tremor Scale/Vipers (Meta)

    I've done DW/Bow

    DW/2H

Currently testing out DW/S&B medium armor (theorycrafting).

While the crit Chance and everything is nice, I find it unnecessary to rely on. With Vigor, Bloodthirst, and crit surge going its hard to get me down. You can also throw on lacerate for extra heals, and if you really need to, crit chance pots is better than health pot in a pinch.
Yes, I do heartily repent. I repent I had not done more mischief; and that we did not cut the throats of them that took us, and I am extremely sorry that you aren't hanged as well as we.

Think I'm going to try dw maces for the extra armor pen, since I'm lacking that from gear

1h weapon type was also something I was thinking about, but I decided against maces for PvE because it's a % bonus against enemy resistance. And if I remember correctly, NPC enemies tend to have much smaller resistances than players seem to, so when combined with Sharpened and my gear (running 5 Toothrow, 5 NMG, and 2 Kraghs), that extra penetration seems like a very poor bonus compared to the crit increase from daggers.

So I would say that if you are considering maces, make sure to calculate what your overall penetration is beforehand to see if you actually need that increase or not.

I see. You didn't say that in the op.

Don't. The long and short of it is if you don't have major fracture on the target, mauls/maces are better, if major fracture is on the target, mauls/maces and swords are about even, if you have anymore debuffs, IE NMG, alkosh, even a crusher enchant, swords are better.

Note that the debuffs are skills that benefit the whole group, so armor sets like TFS and spriggan and kraghs are calculated after mauls/maces percentages, as is sharpened.

And on a sorc, as I have said it is quite important to crit, more consistent crits mean more heals. So daggers are really the only option.

This is pretty off-topic, but how much dps are you pulling on target dummies? I ask as I'm running this exact same set up on my stamsorc and am only able to pull about 20k on average on the target dummy.

If you're new to the class or dont have BiS gear - 2 daggers is always preferable.
If you're running top tier gear and are fluent with the class, then 1 dagger 1 axe is usually best for DPS. All things being equal.

For PvE BiS would be something like:
5 pc 2-Fanged, 2 pc Velidreth , 3 pc VO, and 1 maelstrom dagger, 1 maelstrom axe, both sharpened. With Maelstrom bow back bar, also sharpened.

On my stamsorc I run 2 sharpened maelstrom daggers though, since the best maelstrom axes I've managed to loot are precise and nirnhoned. So my input here is theoretical since I haven't tested them directly.

    Is this for PvP?

Wouldn't bother with ravager, only good on a stamplar from my experience. Jabs procs it a lot but not much on a stamsorc/dk seemed to.
