How would you change housing (aimed at those who think it useless)?

Other than storage I don't see it's purpose. You don't need to sleep.

Storage is the obvious reason that anyone would even bother... Gotta love how in the advertisement they crack a joke at how the houses are secure so your items won't get stolen... what items? LOL

So the sad truth is that they knew the reason we all wanted houses was to store our stuff... instead you got houses just to look at, just a shoebox full of precut pieces to pack together in the tiny overpriced spaces available... no real treasure, no way to display one's trophies, and nowhere to sit or sleep.

    3/10 Bethesda
Just like with all the expansions of fallout... I am left wishing you did a better job.

Storage of course. Another thing would make you pets move around so they do not look like statues.

Meet the LOST family: CP 1250+
Easily Lost Crafter - lvl 50 - Sorcerer Orc ( knows all traits and most styles )
    Easily Lost-W - lvl 50 - Warden Imperial
Forever Lost - lvl 50 Sorcerer

CROWN CRATES: It doesn't affect gameplay, it's not mandatory, it's cosmetic only. If it helps to support the game and ZOS, I support it! Say YES to crown crates.

    1 Storage options

2 Item display -- armor sets, weapons, trophies, etc.

3 Harvesting -- herbalism, mining, fishing, etc. -- it can be an involved process (questing, etc.) to unlock or build facilities, etc.

4 NPCs -- servant NPCs, vendors, stable master, bartender, dancers (what if you were a thieves guild guy and you wanted to build a strip club like in TES 3 in Suran? Wouldn't that be cool?), etc.

5 The ability to open it to the public for player interaction, not just friends and guildies. Of course the owner would have complete control to set rules (e.g., pvp on/off), ban people, etc. I'm sure the decorators want to show off their homes. People would create all kinds of cool stuff.

6 Rested xp buff? Maybe like someone said above, just 5% on top of other buffs. I don't even really need it now, but it would make there be a reason to log off at home for a lot of people.

7 Player-owned vendor would be great for farmers, crafters (not sure how to stop gold sellers from exploiting this, though)

8 Boats for travel. Wayshrine (because it would look cool).

Those are just some quick ideas. There are some amazing looking homes I would love to own, but I just can't bring myself to spend the crowns on them because I can't see any point to it. I can just visit there anytime. Already, I would be bored if I had purchased one. For what? I just can't see throwing away 80-100 USD worth of crowns to buy a lifeless, static little instance now matter how cool it looks. I can just preview it any time I want to see it, if I did want to.

    Yeah definitely storage.

I'm still waiting for the next crown pack sale so I can buy a banker to at least have that because even after grinding out enough writs to get all the crafting stations, the house is pointless because I keep needing to leave it to visit the bank. So I still have all my characters parked in towns and using town crafting stations.

maybe with more options with furniture and misc decoration for housing. And, yes more storage.
And then i will go back home every time when i am full in inventory, and you will have felling that is really your house , and not just static adornment.
I dont want to be cheeky.
Concept of Housing in ESO is very good.
But after all houses ingame are useless. After you buy a house and made all furniture, then what?
They just like a said static adornment.

    1. Storage. Storage. Storage. I just do not understand why ZOS limit our storage space so badly. Crown Store storage slots are not the main money flow to them. Money sink is not the reason too, because of housing prices.
    2. Little XP bonus for sleeping in your own bed (log off in bed, maybe). 5% will be sweet.
    3. An option to start Undaunted pledge quests, crafting writs and guild daily quests from your home. Some sort of guild member in your house, or just mailbox with quest letters. Now houses are less functional than main city hubs.

    ^ Pretty much exactly this.

A bit of functionality can be a pretty large motivator to actually care about your house.

That's one of the reasons I don't like the crafting bag. I've tried it but it feels wrong to have something magically hoovering out all of your crafting materials into a bottomless pit.

Returning to a home occasionally to store stuff would feel much more authentic.

    1) For obvious reasons, "Storage" feature would be awesome.

    2) This is an idea that needs a lot of changes required in trading system:

    a) First ZOS needs to combine trading system in only one auction trader in every town/city worldwide and enable trading not only for guilds but also for other players. So ZOS can do something against some guilds' monopoly for adjusting prices.

    b) I'm not against paying taxes for it. Just please enable trading for everyone.

    c) House doors must be interactive so anyone can visit anyone's house by just typing his/her account/character name.

    d) Item displays for sales. Anyone can interact and purchase the what he/she wants.
    • Weapon racks
    • Wardrobes for armours.
    • Item displays for jewelry.
    • Consumable chests
    • Crafting goods chests
    • etc...

    3) Interactive pets and plants. So visitors can feed or pet them just for fun.

    4) Interactive music boxes. Can be a specific one or a zone's theme song.

    5) Interactive book cases. (I'm not sure if it does exist.) I should be able to put a copy of a lore that I had collected through my adventures.

This list can be extended but these are the ones come into my mind just now...

storage would make me buy a house.

but in terms of cosmetic- it would be freaking awesome if all my toons could be sitting, chilling, sleeping, reading, cooking around the house like NPC's when not being used- and I could go home- log in basically tag in and out with another character. i think it would bring everyones family of characters to life- and be really fun basically.

if they could just put what skyrim had- id be happy- you know - that game that came out like- TEN YEARS AGO!
storage, base craft stations, an armoury- a way to show off our favourite weapons and armour-

-Armour stands that you can store multiple Armour sets on and choose what one you want to display.
-Chests that allow you to store items
-More reasons for having visitors. Perks/bonuses/Achievements based on the house you visit.
-More decorations. I know there is a lot but feel like I have just about everything I want already after only like 1 month from owning a house.
-Ability to place more then 500 items

There are a lot of happy role players with the coming housing update. But many others just wanted a useful home. Which is good. The attack dummy has been mentioned as possibly being the only utilitarian feature. Crafting can be done in the world so you do not need a house with a craft station; there is no mention of crafting bonuses. Housing is mostly cosmetic. I played an mmo long ago that would give stat bonus's to a player's character per piece of furniture. Not sure such a feature would work for TESO. Any ideas on what could make housing more interesting to the practical player? What could be implemented in the future?

    Storage.

    More storage.

    Massively more storage.

Our bank should be 1000 spaces, and plus subscribers should get 2000 spaces in bank.

The ability of putting a bank in a house. Does not even have to be increased storage, simply a bank. Putting crafting stations in your house without the ability to then access a bank so alts can pick up the items you just crafted is a little pointless. You may as well simply go to existing crafting stations. Housing is pretty cool overall and can be fun but being able to access a bank would make it actually useful for me

As a role player, I don't think the current mostly cosmetic housing system is totally useless... however...

Yes, storage obviously would be a top priority. Though I understand why it was not included seeing as how storage is practically this game's only reliable gold sink...

I would also like the ability to be able to "sleep" in my beds. Even if it didn't actually pass the time or give me any kind of boosts, it would be cool for the RP aspect alone.

Perhaps the ability to build a custom house using an empty plot of land and putting together pieces (floors, walls, roof, etc.)

Overall, I personally really like the current housing system, but I know it won't appeal to most players unless it has some sort of usefulness beyond just "hey look at the pretty thing I spent all my money on..." Eh, what can I say, I'm a sucker for virtual luxury.
