I'm a noob. I have around 13k right now. Most I've ever had at once was like 60k so far. I don't have any level 50 characters yet though. I used a good chunk of that 60k to get my bags and bank upgraded, because I didn't have ESO Plus yet. Both my bags and bank are now 110 slots, and both half empty cause I have ESO Plus now.

15.3M in bank plus some change spread on characters, all earned selling surplus. I haven't really sold any of the good stuff. I even started selling hundreds of intricate items that drop in dungeons for 150-180 gold a piece, so literally trash. I make about 5-700K a week in total, from selling on guild stores and various other sources. I have hundreds of gold tempers, 1K of each flower, a stack of nirncrux. I don't even bother to farm mates, I just pick them as I go and let tempers from crafting writs accumulate. Am I ain't spending a dime on housing since it doesn't solve my real storage issue, which is sets. At some point I've spent 2.7-2.8M on the motifs I was missing, dropping from 12M to 10M in 10 days (I probably managed to do 7-800K in that time) but then recouped back to 12M in exactly one month. Overall my money increases far faster than I can spend it, without even trying. And I'm not even in the top tier of my guilds. My sales total between 0.1-0.5% of total guild sales and I'm in positions 100-200 overall, so there are probably people that have hundreds of millions out there.

Housing drained all my gold, but at least I now have several places to live.
The free "wayshrines" (houseshrines?) are super useful when you start a new character.
I found an aetherial cipher! Sold it for 3.5 million gold and spent over half on it on everything I think I needed. Have about 1.6mil left atm.

I have little to spend money on this game. I have both the money and the more expensive stuff, like gold tempers and nirncrux, the more valuable alchemy ingredients etc. I'm really dazzled that people actually have so little money, even after 1-2 years of playing. For the first 6 months, while I was at pre-vet, and low vet ranks - reached VR16 after about 3.5 months and the CP cap at that time, which was 501 after another 4 months - I did in deed have very little money because the gear I was getting was low level, and could be vendored for less (nobody would have bought it on guild stores), and all my money was eaten up by bank and backpack upgrades on my main. I think I've spent around 1.1M on those. But since then it has mostly be going up, and noticeably faster that way once One Tamriel came, I trained other characters and all gear was leveled to CP160 and thus became useful and could be sold on guild stores. Also the mats were maximum level everywhere, and the max level writs could be done and turned in in Belkarth, making them available for everyone. I had probably around 5M when that patch came. Even if I buy an expensive item, like a weapon from a set that's considered BiS, that wouldn't cost me more than a few days' earnings. So what do people actually spend their money on?

1-2 millions, but - as my former poster - if you count materials for legendary improvements (waxes, alloys, rosins, Kutas, nirncrux and even expensive herbs for spell power cure potions like corn flowers etc.) I have accumulated much more wealth (4 to 5 times as much as a cautious guess). I would call that a diversified investment.
So I could equip my 4 magicka chars bit by bit with a full legendary DD, tank and healer equip, which makes me very flexible for pledges, achievement runs and more, while still having hundreds of legendary improvement stuff.

Sometimes the prey turns and nips us... it's a small thing.
So let the snow flakes and unicorns dance alone until they melt or vanish from existence, we will finish up with those smart enough to stay in the glowing circle of love.
I usually float around 1-2 million. Whenever I get more I throw it away to make other peoples game more enjoyable. What's the point in having gold if you're not using it to make others happy? For example before housing I gave away the entire games motif collection (estimated value 9 million gold) as a prize in one of my Guilds. Then for my own Guild I poured 20 million gold into a Manor just to make a place that we could all enjoy and populated it with 34 attunables (so far) just to make the game easier for my friends and Guild mates. I then invited an RP group to use it as well to enrich their gaming experience. And all this is from hard earned gold without a single exploit or hack. Anyone hoarding gold or making it by cheating or to the detriment of others really needs to take a long hard look at themselves. It's a game. Enjoy it. But more importantly enjoy it with others. All the gold in the game won't make your p.e.n.i.s any bigger
