I've seen them numerous times. Have reported them but nothing's been done. Same names too. They have over a hundred CP now.

All you can do is report them. Alikir's cleared out for a while, I suspect a wave of people started reporting the bots. all you can do is report each instance of a "sighting".

    Still there ...
    sad.gif

Went there and saw another player kiting two Wamasu in their path so i jumped in and helped for about 15 minutes or so.

The bots respawn at the Hissmir Wayshrine when they die and the Wamasu are close to their first stop on their route so they never got to kill anything but went through a whole lot of soul gems.

Kinda funny to watch them get pummeled to death over and over again ...

This is freaking ridiculous! Why are they still there??? A GM with a ban hammer could take care of them in 5 seconds!

I've started using OBS to get video proof of the bots. A picture only gives names, a video would give proof.
I reported 3 earlier tonight in Auridon.

Yeah, I can confirm that some of the same players are still running the same circuit in Shadowfen. I already reported them, back on March 11. @ZOS_JessicaFolsom , you do address bots more than just once per year, right?

Yeah, well, like I think I said elsewhere... this is apparently accepted behavior per the specifics of the ToS and does not need to be reported anymore.

I am revising my definition of "bot" so that it does not include trains like these. These are legitimate, hard working, players that are just trying to grind out a few meager XP and mats in a game that is unforgiving to casual players that cannot dedicate time to playing. This is the only way legitimate players with lives can catch up. Because ZOS is so sympathetic to these players, who can only actively play a couple hours per week, and who are just trying to get what they need to do end game, it is not considered a violation of the ToS.

There is no other way to look at this. They have had plenty of time to deal with it. They enforce the ToS daily, according to credible reports. No visible enforcement for this amount of time means that it is not against the ToS.

Right, hard working cheaters using 3rd party software to automate and multibox several accounts to run 24/7 without human input.

Well, did a health and welfare check on the Shadowfen bots today. Swamps are not a healthy place. Many diseases, rots, and rashes. There were all different bots there. Same pattern, though. The old ones are probably leveled by now, so they rotated them out, and started a new batch.

You just admitted to using bots? You condone botting? There are soooo many things wrong with your logic. I have spent 3 yrs getting to CP 740 and now their are bots that will be greater than CP 800 in less than 2 months if things continue? Don't get me started on the mats, bots will rake in soooo much more mats and crafting materials than even the most dedicated player farmer.

I don't use bots, don't bot, and don't condone it. Please do not blaspheme here in the forum. The forum mods are quick on cracking down on profane speech, so be careful.

While there is sarcasm in my statements on this subject, they are based in a nugget of truth. ZOS is the sole arbiter of what is, and is not, against the ToS, and they do not reveal the outcome of specific incidents. They tell us in broad terms what they are doing. We know they take action against cheating, daily. We do not know what specific behaviors we consider to be cheating, but they don't consider to be. The only way to tell is to observe how ZOS treats "bots" by watching what happens in the game. When ZOS does not take action in a timely manner, then there is good reason to consider that those players are doing something that ZOS feels is not a violation of the ToS worthy of enforcement.

It does not matter whether I consider someone to be botting. It only matters if ZOS does, and takes action.

What I have said elsewhere about not reporting this behavior stands. I noted the new players in Shadowfen, but have not reported them. There are two reasons for this. If ZOS does not consider them to be doing something worthy of punishment, in disagreement with my opinion, then I am simply wasting my time, and theirs, reporting the situation. If ZOS does consider them to be botting, but is so swamped with reports that they cannot keep up, then my report is going to be one of several reports against these bots, and redundant. Again, a waste of time for me to report, and for them to read, since I am telling them nothing new. Remember, if these players are bots, they will be there for weeks, and probably generate hundreds of reports.

I am wasting my time, and theirs, by reporting what I consider to be bot trains.

I will still report the people at the dolmens that are firing at the boss drop point. I wait until the second day I see them, because they have probably been reported and I don't want to add to the noise. It also helps filter out the "wannabe" players that think the method the bots are using is a good idea, but are not actually botting. It does not hurt that these bots don't stand there for weeks, endlessly attacking a harmless spot on the ground, which indicates that ZOS does consider these players to be against the ToS, and chooses to enforce it.

I mean just dumbfounded you said hard working, legitimate players are justified in using botting software and that you have your own personal definition of a "bot." Also thank you for trying to get me disciplined by the mods. You say you "don't condone" botting, but in the previous post you said botting is okay for casual players? Do I need to spell out the irony and hypocrisy here?

Sadly, banning them won't help much. The cost of buying a new account to bot on is well worth it compared to the profit they make. They'll just keep buying replacement accounts as their bots get banned.

People don't even seem to care any more if everyone knows they not either - a guy was selling clean pelt, decorative wax and dreugh wax by the THOUSAND in deshaan zone chat today. No other mats, just those ones. Check on the less reputable guild stores, you'll see the same thing. Players selling thousands and thousands of clean pelt, decorative wax, hide scraps and wax. Dreugh wax is down to 3k each thanks to botters.

Yes, banning them does help, especially if done in a timely manner. It helps more when word gets around that they do ban for this, rather than making it look like they don't care.

This is because not everyone who is running these bots is working for some website, and not everyone is going to drop money on new accounts because they keep getting banned.

The bot train in shadowfen is likely one or two people who bought a bunch of dirt cheap accounts on some website for about 6 dollars and set up a bot program. Say they have four bots each. As long as those bots mail the loot, even if they get banned after 2 hours they've already made a profit far exceeding what they spent on accounts.

I'm not at all arguing they shouldn't be banned, just that until a more permanent solution is found they will just keep reappearing. That bot train has probably already been replaced multiple times.

And yes, not everyone who bots is a gold seller, but most are. They should all be banned.

    thanks to botters
    its plus, isnt it?
    No.
    why not
    for me its huge plus

Because there's something called the "big picture".
It's when you step back from your narrow minded, egocentric viewpoint and look at how bots impact this game as a whole.

You should try it some time ...

There's a bot train with 5 players running a circular route in Shadowfen, around the Hissmir Wayshrine (PC/NA).
We need y'all to dust off that good old ban hammer!

I have screenshots with names if needed ...
