We have WBs. However they are weaker than in MMOs that I have played. While some of them in the original zones are a challenge to solo, they are certainly not true WBs but merely strong NPS.

Yes, it would have been good if Zos has made them into a real challenge that took groups of at least 6 but preferably 12 or more to kill.

    My take:

Make the bosses slightly smaller, choose a city and spawn many of them all over the city, but keep the wayshrines clear and barricade wayshrines off that no player can draw mobs to them (idea is to allow players who want to escape to do so without rezzing beneath a boss).

So, Molag decided to send a culling team to Vukhel Guard. 50 Air Atronachs (Craglorn boss size) gets paradropped in, all over the place. A player gets loot only from a number of those he kill (the first one, two?).

Lag might still be an issue, but at least the AoE effects will be spread a bit, helping with FPS.

I think this will be more interesting than just one super big boss. Here you have the chance accidentally drawing the boss you're busy with to another boss (oops!), and the battlefield will look different each time.

*Edit - I so want to be there the day when the random drop point is Allesia Bridge!

A dragon who is rising from a Vulcan with his upper body(more like a stationary boss fight), he have multiple "hitboxes", head, claws(left, right), body, wings ? with multiple shield layers. If he get too much damage he will hide again in the Vulcan and regenerate some hp, in the meantime the player have to kill ads.

To prevent to trigger the boss to early min. dps is required like for 20-30 ppl. So situatiations like oh i pressed LMB .... will never happen.

Boss respawn is like 2-3h(only appear on some days like mo-we-fr-su), cause you never kill him, he only vanishes again in the Vulcan. After the fight some old skeleton body will rise up from the Vulcan border as loot object.

    Attacks:
    Claw wipe -> small aoe(physical)
Fire breath -> fire aoe (magic)
    Sound wave/breath->stun player (cc)
Regeneration -> hides in Vulcan to regenerate hp
Meteor rain -> large aoe (magic and physical)
Execute phase -> the ground under you will split up and random small lava aoe zones will appear

    Would be sooooo awesome
    Groupfinder:
The worst part is when it finally puts you in a group, your healer turns into a werewolf, your tank has 14k HP and the dps is heavy armor, using a restro staff and a two handed sword on the backbar. Then comes the 15 minute penalty before the cycle starts anew.

    Rulz of Morrowind:
    • The first rule of Morrowind is: You do not talk about Morrowind.
    • The second rule of Morrowind is: You do not talk about Morrowind.
    • Third rule of Morrowind: Someone yells NDA stuff, uploads images, streams, the game is over.
    • Fourth rule: only invited players can test.
    • Fifth rule: one invite at a time, fellas.
    • Sixth rule: crying or bashing on pts.
    • Seventh rule: NDA will go on as long as they have to.
    • And the eighth and final rule: If this is your first invite at Morrowind, you have to play.

It does not have to be a Molag Bal's general. It can be an event where necromancers get together 3 times a week in a random zone to create a massive Flesh Colossus. Players can see it start but unable to stop it and once the ritual is done, it is announced to the whole server that the "Abomination" has been created in "Insert Zone Here".

Killing it gives a gold jewelry of one of the 3 overland sets in the zone to the top 10 damage dealers, 3 healers and 3 tanks (take most damage.) That way players have a chance to get all 3 pieces of a set that week...

...but the server cannot handle this in its current state.

Would be cool if the bosses are randomly in the zones but the landscape did allow it. I remembering FFXO walking trough some wood and boom out of nowhere 10m random boss encounter, died in 1 hit ..... was awesome !

The problem with the CD is the playerbase, some ppl work other not so if the boss spawns 1500 how would a normal worker can ever do this boss ?

I have felt for a long while that ESO feels too static and boring. Everything feels staged and predictable. The same world bosses spawn at the same locations and the same anchors spawn at the same dolmens.

Rather than just have a big boss spawn somewhere out in the wilderness and stand around doing nothing waiting to be killed by players...

I would have Dark Anchors actually do something. When they drop, they disgorge their hordes who head towards the nearest town or settlement and try to raze it. And they will keep doing so until the dolmen is closed.

Perhaps when they hit a town, they harvest souls or steal some whatever, and either a fee times a week or when enough dark anchors have done enough damage somehow, a Grand Anchor appears either over a major city, or in the wilderness at some point of interest.

All other dark anchors drop at the same time, and daedra flood the zone, marching (not running, they march in formation) towards a central location, butchering everything in their path.

Then a Big Bad spawns and leads an assault on the capital of the zone.

This March of Domination will last maybe an hour, and win or lose the Daedra retreat. If their "occupation" runs its full course and the big bad isnt slain, most idle non-essential civilians are dead, and daedra wander around more. But it should be mostly business as usual.

When the big invasion is about to begin, the fighters guild will make a worldwide announcement and the mages guild will open free portals to the zone in question, while also opening portals OUT of that zone if you dont participate.

Also, if you take a portal out of the zone, you get an exp/gold buff for thr duration of the event, as long as you are not in that zone. As a consolation for disrupting your normal quest experience.

I don't think it would work too well with ESO. Burst healing (and damage) is such a part of the game, that anyone who didn't get 1 shot would be instantly healed to full. This is already the case more or less in trials. You get 1 shot or you are fine.

With 20-30-50 people, that means the boss would have to be able to 1 shot pretty much everything, making beating the boss just a chore of rezzing x people every y minutes. No taunt either, unless it one shots tanks as well, or if it can get taunted then it needs lots of 1 shot AOEs. None of the above sounds fun to me, but I don't see a way out when heal time from 1 HP to full is 3 seconds at most.

    Sounds OK, OP.

It could be that a much tougher version of a Wold Boss spawns randomly (as you suggested) somewhere at a random point in a random Zone.

To every player IN that Zone, they have a message pop up that states "***insert unique creature with unique title here*** has invaded ***insert random Zone here***!!! This being must be defeated!".

Since we already have compass pointers of different colors for various activities, there could be a special Quest Marker (say... Red or Gold or something) that points the players in the aforementioned Zone to where this ultra-special beastie is currently ravaging the countryside.

Add in that defeating this uber-World-Boss would give very high Quality/Rarity loot, and you'd have players flocking to beat the random Monster Event.

And by random, I mean make it RANDOM. No set schedule for the uber-beasts to spawn.

Random Spawn times. Random days of the week. Random Zones.

Personally; I would relish seeing this type of Public Event added to ESO.

The idea takes me waaaaaaaay back to the times and public events of Ultima Online and DAoC. I loved those events...

I've posted this a few times but now seems like a good time to give my Cyrodiil Zombie Apocalypse idea another go.

Assume for a second that we live in a world where lag has been fixed. No ... seriously. Just play along.

Every hour at a totally random place in Cyrodiil, Chorral, Allesia Bridge, Chalman Keep, a field in the middle of nowhere, 200 free roaming zombies get spawned. They don't have to be over powered, just enough where it's patentedly ridiculous to look at. The zombies just roam aimlessly in a hoard until they are found.

Here is the kicker. 199 of them drop absolutely nothing. One of them, completely indistinguishable from the rest, drops 1 piece of gold jewelry to whomever kills him.

Imagine the complete chaos of this happening near a 3-way battle. Since it would be random no one could camp it, and the loot while REALLY valuable, has only a 0.5% chance of dropping for you. It would be total anarchy.

You may now resume yelling about lag.

It' anticlimactic to have an overworld boss that is more difficult to defeat than Molag Bal or the Celestials.

Having open world bosses spawn randomly and then be defeated by trained 8 or 12 man groups kind of defeats the purpose and will only result in aggravation for the overwhelming majority of players.

In this game of soloists, to organize and coordinate 50+ players to defeat a worldboss appropriately powered is impossible.

I hated overworld bosses in most of the games I played. We will not get back the times of Ultima or DAoC, players have changed too much.

Solid NOOOO from my point of view.

You do know that any vet dungeon boss, trial boss, most normal dungeon bosses and probably all existing world bosses are harder than molag bal at end of story.

So from that pov it is already anticlimactic.

If the rewards were good enough people would just show up. As it is now it is just to easy to obtain any over world items and most dungeon items. When 1t first dropped there were plenty of people for killing bosses but then everyone farmed all their items and no longer need to farm the bosses.

So if the item from the boss was rare and good enough then there wouldn't be a problem with getting people to show up to kill the boss.

One of my favorite games in terms of innovative content back in the day was called Horizons. It still exists today as Istaria. I remember occasional spawns of giant world boss invaders that came with an entourage. They would spawn a fair distance from a major town and then start slowly marching towards it killing everything in their path. Their progress was slow enough that word would get out and people would start making their way to the battle to try to stop the boss before he could get to the town. It took a lot of players to defeat them and it made for some occasional excitement to break up the monotony of the daily grind.

In theory, something like this can be a lot of fun. If it was challenging. If it's not challenging, it's just another form of dolmen gameplay. Zzzz.

But if you make it challenging, the majority of users will complain until it's nerfed.

I would love overland hm raid bosses. Ahh.. the days of contested content in MMOs...
