Addon Fun Every Few Days

I have been having a lot of fun these past few weeks, or years I lost count, where every few days my Add-Ons reset to the defaults. I get to wake up before I go to work and instead of playing the game like I really want to, I get to drink coffee and try to remember all the settings I had on my Add-Ons for all my characters. I considered necroing a forum page but then again I know how many people love seeing that so I created a new one.

The Add-On settings that people suggested in the document folders a few years back seems to work for my character and has held off the daily reset to about a 2 or 3 days.

I run Windows 10 Ultimate (or whatever the highest version is) and I am on the North American server. The file location of AddOnSettings.txt that I rename is as follows:

This PC > Documents > Elder Scrolls Online > live

I have renamed the AddOnSettings.txt to a different name and then I have reloaded the UI
When I am renamed the file I have already opened and logged into the game. Once I have renamed that evil .txt file I go back to my main character and type /reloadui. This creates a new AddOnSettings.txt file that I will have to delete in 2 or 3 days or find some new name to rename it to.

I also have made sure that I have up to date Add-Ons by both using Minion (I know I will get some rap for that) and physically verifying the files manually inside the Add-Ons folder to make sure everything is the same whenever I have to update them, if someone can find a way to keep Add-Ons up to date every time there is a patch they would suddenly become a god.

I have had similar issues with World of WarCraft but I managed on getting them to a few weeks, I just kept getting the intro cinematic.

On those rare occasions I have managed to remember that I need to check all my Add-Ons to make sure that they are installed and checked before I log in but you know tired sleep deprived brains that people get when they try to have a somewhat normal life and a night job. Are there any helpful souls out there that could help or suggest ideas to solve this issue? I am sorry if some of this post or all of it doesn't make sense. I will try to clarify if people have questions.

Cheers fellow ESO players!

Oh and the save the Add-On file doesn't work either. The game just rewrites the whole folder. If I didn't know better the Jesters hijacked my ESO game folders.

I wonder if this is actually a Win10 weirdness. Or some problem with your system being set up to sync your documents folder with a backup, only, for some reason it's overwriting the directory instead of uploading.

But would it also happen on 7? I had a similar issue there, but not as grand. It would be once or twice every 2 or months.

I would suggest making a backup copy of settings folders and files and just replace them when something goes wrong.

Simplest solution for a quick fix.

If I remember correctly, 7 Pro can be set up to do that as well. (I'm not sure about XP or Vista.) Nuking local directories from a backup can be useful in some settings. (Like when you're running public terminals.) Not sure how you set that up though.
