Linked Achievement system

Hi everyone!

I really like to invest a lot of time in doing achievements, whether it was about collecting all the skyshards, doing all quests, killing all world bosses, getting all anchors, and the list goes on and on…

However i found myself forced to play one character only in order for me to get all the achievements done, it wouldn’t be bad if i had control over the things i do sometimes but as you know sometimes you go and help someone with something like a dungeon(a dungeon which you haven’t done on your main) and end up getting achievements scattered all across different characters.

Now if i want to reach my goal which is to do and get EVERY single achievement in this game then i have to play one character at all time, something which started to burn me out of the game lately. Some people won’t mind this but when you relize the scale of “grinding” you need to do in order to get to the same goal then you would understand.

A solution for this would be an account wide achievements system!
I have seen it done in other games and in this great game i don’t see a problem why not to do it.

You can give people control over it for those who don’t like this idea to just switch it off, the reason i don’t see it as a problem to implement or a short cut is:

1. You still have to go around and do those things.
2. You will still be playing the game since you are playing it on another character.
3. It will give people the incentive to finish some of the achievements.
4. People won’t burn out of this game.
5. If there was anything in this game that would make people log in for hours it would be achievements.

Iam sure some will say that this is “hard” to implement and that it would make the game even more buggy than what it is right now, first leave the technical issues and solutions to Zenimax please because iam sure neither you nor me really know what and what is not easy or hard to implement in this game. Secondly this would not take from the game but rather add to it, read the points i wrote above to understand why!

So i wonder if there is any possibality for such solutions to be implemented in the game?

Hey Friend! Don't want to burst your bubble, but from what I gather most people like to do the achievements on Alts so I doubt this will happen :disappointed:

Great idea though! I also wish it would happen!

And if you read my post then you would come across where i mentioned that they could add the option for people to disable this in case they don't want it...

What if they worked like they do in wow: the achievments show up as both "this character" and "any character" and all the rewards are acc wide. Then the people who want to redo the achievments on alts can do so and the people who don't want to do it still get the titles and rewards they have already earned.

(though as with wow there should be a few exceptions. For example emperor and flawless VMA should still be character only)

Yeah iam sure that there are many other ways better than what we have right now, now this issue matter much more since we got the housing system where there are some achievements which could be much more enjoyable to do across different characters.

And as you mentioned there are ways to please different groups of people with simple solutions like that!

This is an idea that has gotten support form only a small part of the community. It just has not had traction probably because many are willing to do the leg work on which ever character is their main.

Heck, I know someone who changed what they considered their main and sought out to get the achievements on that character and catch up to the previous main.

I am discouraged from playing alts because i have so much completed and accomplished on one character. i have 18457 achievement points, and every time i hop on an alt or try to start one, I get this nagging feeling that im wasting time when i could be completing more on my main.

I favor a linked achievement system. or at least a prompt that when you create a new character, the game asks if you would like to link your achievements. .

I am on both side for this.

Part of me likes my characters to be distinct and wants some achievements separate, the other side gets frustrated that by playing my alt I don't progress my main. SWTOR was nice as I could play any character and due to the legacy system enjoy progression for my main.

ESO has far too many rewards tied to achievements which don't make this viable though, they would need a full achievement overhaul for this.

Im on the both sides of the fence on this. On the one hand it would be nice, but on the other hand it would be stupid to have char with "Flawless Conqueror" title who never been to vMA, even though you got it with your sorc main.

I don't mind having an overview option for all achievements that you did on any character, as long as we keep the current system as base. I perfer diverse achievements for multiple reasons:
    - there are rewards tied to achievements that I'd like to get on every character (e.g. skill points, undauted leveling, a lot of xp)
    - it helps to keep track of what you did on what character
    - there are only very few things in this game more statisfying than the moment when you get the emperor slayer achievement on a new char
