You can only get the Royal Jester achievement if you're a nightblade

I also did it once without realizing it was a chievo, then found out afterwards and couldn't replicate it on my alts!

I also just got this achievment on my Sorc with a very slow horse. Just feed the pig, mount up and run away.

Here is a tip. When escaping with your pretty princess, go left, around the Inn. Butcheress will not see you at all.

BTW, didn't sneak at all. And was on mount.

This. When going back to the jester just take the left route and ride near the wall, behind all the houses.
Did this with Rapid Maneuer (pun intended) on a mount; didn't even look back to check if the piggy followed me.
Poor thing must have lost a pound or two.

Nonsense.

I got the achievement second try with a stamina DK in all heavy armor with no sneaking.

(I just went around the outskirts of town to the east....nothing to it)

Unless there's a different item offered for completing the quest without being caught, you can get the achievement regardless if you have a bounty or not.

When I turned in the quest, I had a 27 bounty (apparently was seen twice for the same crime, ZoS: probably should work on that). The Khajiit was extremely happy and bestowed upon me a crown (I'm still wearing).

Within moments, music and confetti began to appear, and the XB1 popped up a message stating I received a rare achievement, and that only "0.21%" got the same.

I don't think it matters if you get caught. I walked past every guard and none of them chased me (thank goodness).

Though, I have seen some jester outfits on some players, wondering how they got them. Perhaps this is the reward for completing without getting caught?

The jester costumes are either a really old loyalty reward, or a discontinued crown store item (not exactly the same jester outfit). There is no special reward for the achievement.

The butcher costume was available years ago when the crown store opened, I have it but rarely use it.

Got princess rescuer on all 12 alts. Including my level 3 templar bankmule. You just need to know where the Butcher is placed and used some strategy. Hugging walls, jumping onto the stairs from the side, once you get past the wayshrine you are golden

This. Just hug the left side, and go behind the buildings when you walk up stairs. It's stupid easy.

I've done it with four different toons and I did found a way that works with my Templar healer first. I've subsequently done it with my DK, sorcerer and NB.

This is my method. Position yourself behind the pig with it between you and the owner so that the three of you form a line. There is a big rock on your right and you're going to use it. Move up slowly in small increments until the E button appears. Don't get any closer because you're about to move to your right and you don't want to get tangled up in the fence. Hit E to feed Princess and immediately move right around the rock. You have about a second before you hear, "Who stole my pig?" Continue around the rock and sprint into the middle of the swamp area. If you have a mount get on it now and gallop. Take the left path (since you're going south this means go east of Hlaalu House). Gallop all the way, ignoring the cries of,"Piggie! Piggie!" behind you. Enjoy your achievement.

I just sneaked to the pig and then ran with the horse. Heard her shouting at some point along the way but didn't actually catch me. I did it on 4 chars of all classes so it really doesn't matter.

But randomly I heard of it bugging where she would automatically teleport to you and find the pig cause of so many people doing it every day and it crowds up and probably confuses one players butcher with another.

Happend to me on one of my alts yesterday, she was no where to be seen then all of a sudden out of thin air she appeared and fined me.

Yes, I have gotten this. Oddly enough, my Nightblade got caught outside of the Inn, so I have to try again today. When caught, you get a bounty, but get to keep the princess. When you are not caught, you do not get a bounty, and get the achievement.

This is what I do...

Don't have a bounty from stealing the apple. This way you don't have to watch for guards.
Once Princess is fed, leave right away. I never get seen here, but I always leave right away. Future encounters seem to be scripted, I can take my time if I do have a bounty and need guards to chase after someone else.
Go up the east steps. There are two guards on these steps, one at the bottom, one at the top. They can be avoided with careful timing, and a small bounty. Go right through the Fighter's Guild tent area between the Town Hall and the Ebony Flask. Don't take the path in front of the Flask, or go up the hill next to the Hall. Stay off the path, to the right of the stone fence, as you head towards the center of the plaza. I cross the path and stay to the left of the furniture sales person on my way to the gate, but this is largely to avoid the guards, if I do get a bounty. The butcher will come out of the Flask or the Hall, depending on which one is closer, and yell at you. As long as she does not get too close, you are fine.
Use speed potions, or ride a horse. Princess will keep up. The faster you get past her the better.

ROFL got this on the first try because I got spotted while stealing the apples so I had to avoid GUARDS.

succeeded and got the acheivment at the same time. believe me, if you manage avoiding all the GUARDS in Ebonheart, the butcher will be no problem. lol

I didnt even know about the acheivment until it popped up (let alone that there was a butcher to avoid....). And i'm heavy armor templar. so No definitily do not need to be nightblade....

My first time, she spawned in right on me (as others have reported happening). But on my next character, I knew where the spawn points were, so I was able to avoid them.

My bigger concern is stealing the mudcrab apples without getting a bounty. I swear, every single NPC had their back to me, but it made no difference.

I realized it. Ignorance is bliss, I guess. ;-)

I jumped on my horse and ran back. The pig followed me. Never even saw any butcher.

Yeah... I didn't even know I was supposed to evade anything. I had a bounty on me so I snuck to a corner and went afk for like 5 mins... came back and mounted up, sprinted to the quest location and got the achievement lol.
