    Same here! <3<3

If Morrowind sells a lot of copies and Battlegrounds becomes popular, I hope they add spectator camera, more game modes and some way to queue up your own matches with specific group vs specific group.

+1 for Spectator Mode in Battlegrounds, with a time delay if it's necessary so that teams can't spy on each other.

E-sports is on high demand like it never were before. Even mainstream sports midia are broadcasting e-sports now. Is ESO trying to get on the e-sport market with battlegrounds?

I don't know their expectations, but it's a bold move to try to mix mmorpg x e-sports since that differently from other e-sports, you actually have to farm and grind for your stuff. Let's see how this will end up. But the numbers of streamers and viewers on twitch is definetely going to increase.

For those who don't know what E-sport is...

MMOs aren't really made for it, unless designed with this thought as they start. I found a pretty good article which explains the reasons why - for short, MMOs are not as entertaining to watch, due to their complexity, usually have a long delay before allowing new players to reach a competitive scene, aren't easy to get started with.

That being said, if a MMO really wants to attempt getting sponsors (because this is what this is all about), PvP battlegrounds would indeed be one of the best way to get audience.

    Quoting the article:
According to NCSoft brand manager Julianne Harty, there's a good reason why Blade and Soul is succeeding where other MMORPGs have failed. "Any sport-related activity needs to be easy to pick up but difficult to master, and your proficiency in the sport should not be reliant upon the type of equipment that you use," she saidl. In most MMORPGs, combat is driven by gear and statistics. In Blade and Soul, it's reflex and strategy-based, more like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat than a traditional role-playing game .

Which is why unless extremely specific rules make the competitive part accessible are put in place, it's unlikely to ever happen to ESO. Look at the most popular games: SC2, Hearthstone, Dota, LoL, CS:GO - you start a new account and can get started extremely fast, which is not what MMOs do.

The article linked previously is a pretty good read if you have a few minutes to spare.

Actually, the delay to reach a competitive scene is about a day for BGs as they don't have CP. All you need to be is level 50 which is standard in games such as COD. Sure there is gear, but you can do just fine with crafted gear and agilility/willpower. In fact some of the best setups are all crafted.

Why not? I think that it can be salvation to the mmorpg market, incorporating competitive elements that made MOBAS, e-cardgames and RTS the kings of the e-sports and the most successful games nowdays.

If ZOS really delivers it and also with a big investment in marketing and advertisement I think we may find a space for mmorpg in the e-sports market.

I agree with you it could save the MMO Market but I don't think ZOS will be able to handle it.We would need a complete balance overhaul they made a Good first step by removing CP.For BGS to really gain interest from a wider market ZOS would need to balanced Classes,Sets,Potions and I don't believe they can do it.I lost faith in their team in balancing a PVP game when they added proc sets.So many changes would have to be made to draw attention and grew a small Esport community.

I only know about 2-3 MMO that have a esport following WOW,Blade and Soul and that's it.

So is their elitism in the game now?

Why are you playing if their is?

You said no to this idea on the chance of elitism... But you deal with elitism now from pvp to top trails group to 10k a week trader guilds... But battlegrounds cant be competitive because elitism?

I hope not. I play an MMORPG for the adventure, exploration and character developement. A game needs to fully invest for the e-sport scene if is to succeed and that would conpromise some of the core aspects of an MMORPG and in particular the Elder Scrolls series. The people saying this could be the "salvation" of the game either haven't thought it through or in reality should be playing something else. Luckily I know that the developers know the limitations of this game if they are to keep it on track and thus are not aiming for esports. Looking forward to a more competetive scene for PvP though!

I am bummed. Battle Grounds PvP will detract player and possibly dev focus from AvA, which is my favorite mode of PvP and is what sets ESO apart.

Happy for the Battle Grounds fans, but if I see support for AvA is going by the wayside as a result, i'll be a sad panda.
