Blueprints or Pre-Crafted furniture?

SpiritedBlaize
Are you more interested in buying furnishing recipes or pre-crafted furniture?
Are you one of the 'gotta collect 'em all" or do you just want to furnish your house with gold?
Is anyone out there actually selling furniture? Wondering if it is a viable way to make some gold.

I have always been of the 'gotta collect 'em all" I wanna make it myself type. When I first started, the first main goal was to get all the provisioning recipes.

I want my crafter to feel useful so I hunt blueprints and make the stuff I want.

Pre-Crafted furniture. Don't get me wrong, I'll collect the recipes as they come along. Same as you, gotta collect'em all. But when I wanted to craft some thing I realized how ridiculous some of the crating material requirements were to craft certain things. And I don't mean the special mats that drop from the nodes. Ex: I have a recipe for an orc mug. Just the mug. Nothing fancy or anything. Simple grey. It takes, from memory, 8 honing stones to craft. 8.... I use 2 to upgrade gear from white to green. That's 4 pieces of gear I can upgrade to green for the cost of one mug...... I can't justify that in my head. But... if people have tons of mats lying around not being used, then go for it. Craft to your hearts content. I will gladly give you gold for the furniture you make. And if you give me decent prices, I will spread your business around to other friends of mine. *winks*

I always look in guild stores to see what cheap furniture might be available. If I see something I like that looks like it's less expensive than the mats cost, I'll buy it. Or if I see something fancy for what seems like a reasonable price, I'll buy it because it's less fuss than spending twice as much for the purple recipe and then using up the mats to buy it.

Otherwise I also look for cheap recipes and I use most of the ones I find since the prices have dropped so much.

I like to craft so blueprints. The finished items sell for a lot less than the blueprint or all the materials used in the item put together. Which tells me he demand for the finished items isn't nearly as high so most people prefer to craft things themselves too.

    Yes.

I do a lot of *ahem* rehoming unwanted items, so I often find blueprints doing that.

I'd probably prefer buying furniture for gold if it were less expensive than crafting it, though I suspect that's probably the same for everyone.

Blueprints; however, when I see furniture I like on sale for less than the mats to make it, it puzzles me but I'll buy it.

I've been lucky enough to have the opposite happen. I have been spending the crafting writs on the Hlaalu Furnisher's Document and selling the items I craft from those. When I started I could find Master Crafter Writs for 2000 gold per writ reward. Using that price one document costs 20,000 gold. Picking what I think will sell I can usually pay for the document and materials needed with two sales. Anything after that is mostly profit. A couple of them I was able to sell one item for over 20k gold but that was early after the release.

The crafting writs are coming down in price and I'm sure the prices for crafted items will really drop soon but for a lot of items (not the wax potatos and stuff like that) you should still be able to see a profit. The khajiit tent vacation is selling really well. The last one I listed over 16K gold and it sold in maybe twenty minutes.

Materials are also beginning to drop in price. Early after release prices always bounce all over the place. I'm guessing they will balance out with the festival starting tomorrow as there will be something else for the early big spenders to throw their gold at.

To answer the question though, mostly blueprints and recipes, but if I see something I want and can't craft I might grab it. I look for the blueprint first though.
