And I must say, for all the negativity that gets spouted around here surrounding newcomers to vet pledges etc, this community can be be utterly fantastic and welcoming more often than not. People going that extra mile to talk you through mechanics rather than just kicking you, because they simply realise that they were once in my position.

Now, granted, it did help that I ran a large portion of these dungeons solo on normal for a month or 2 just to learn the mechanics, but the dungeons I had issues in (last boss on Vault of Madness being one) and didn't know, shock horror i died a number of times, these guys and gals took the time out to offer advice rather than just kicking me from the group. Did i die more than once on the same boss, hell yeah, just like everyone has.

Not here to boast about things that a million and one people can already do on a daily basis, just wanting to highlight the fact there's a lot of positives about a much maligned group of players for those wishing to start doing vet pledges themselves.

Don't worry, after you encounter one negative person it's time to make a forum post about how vet dungeons are impossible and other players are meanie-bo-beanies :p

Always glad to see someone move up to vet difficulty, always trying to get casual mates from my guilds to run with me
If you quote someone, and intend for them to see what you have said, be sure to Mention them with @[insert name].

The negative person is always free to leave. That's my attitude. I've been lucky thus far, I'm in 3 large guilds on the PS4 and it's been a group made up from all 3 at times. Haven't needed to touch the group finder yet nor will I as i can live without daily pledges.

Think I've had 2 or 3 non guild members in my team from time to time and they were pretty awesome too. More concerned about having a laugh and sharing the gear around rather than doing something just because that's all they now know. A few people like yourself too. People who say running vet dungeons with new players is what keeps them doing them otherwise it's all pretty straight forward repetitive stuff for the same rewards.

You've got the right attitude. Keep having fun, and seeking advice, and you'll find more folks like yourself. Players helping players is what makes this community awesome. Grats on the move up to vet!

Yeah the level of negativity on the forums doesn't reflect what happens in game.
I'm glad you had a good experience. Hopefully other players aren't too put off from trying vet level.
From my experience most players are happy to talk people through mechanics if asked. I am anyway.

Glad you are having good experiences. Mine hasnt been the best. I have been kicked before even the first pull. And i am not a "new" player but just switched platforms. Now i honestly wont even queue for normal RoM eventhough i want the Amber Plasm set due to not knowing the mechanics and dont want to get kicked as soon as i die from not knowing mechanics. Also wont join normal trials even though i would love to do them. Everybody has different experiences and glad you have met some cool people.

That's awesome!:) And a good attitude to have too. Hope you continue having fun, OP.

If you plan on regularily running dungeons, you may want to consider joining a guild, it's not always that people in pugs are willing to be helpful unfortunately.

Most people are pretty forgiving of newcomers or inexperienced players so long as there's communication and a desire to learn and correct any mistakes. I find it much harder to be rude to a group of strangers than to be polite--possibly being Canadian is to blame!

I think that activity finder would benefit from something that I've seen cropping up lately in both mobile and online games: a "carry" bonus so to speak--extra gold or loot for running with people who are new to the content.

Yeah, I understand it works both ways and was the reason I solo'd a good few dungeons just so I had the basics down for most of the dungeons. There were a number of dungeons I struggled to solo even on normal, so I went in blind for the most part in some of them.

For example, I think my biggest learning curve thus far was the end boss on Vaults of Madness. At first I couldn't figure out how to not get one shotted by that glass. Got told and other than my timing being out entering the dome or entering it when the ghosts were within the dome a few times, I knew what had to be done. And the adds that apply fear were also a bane that i soon learned what needed to be done. That was just a timing thing.

It also helped that the people I ran with didn't expect the impossible. Like me having the best of the best gear because i needed to run the dungeons as to get it. I think some people think it just magically appears on your toon when common sesne says you have to actually run the dungeon at some point without that gear as to obtain it in the first place.

I don't usually have issues with other guildies but the randoms are a mixed bag.

The negative experience tend to stick out in my mind, but for some odd reason I keep on doing them. Have fun with it.

More than half the time, randoms are DLC dungeons though and that makes things more difficult without communicating if the group doesn't know what to do right.

Try pugging vet trials if you want some real frustration. Lol

That awkward moment when you votekick the L12 DPS for continuing to use ransack and stealing aggro after you've explained why it's a bad idea and suggested politely they stop using it, to then realise the L25 healer appears go be running the tormentor set + toppling charge and is also stealing aggro from me (the tank) and you just say *** it and get on with it

Glad to hear you are having a warm welcoming. After reading many forum threads, I make a point to ask if anyone is new, explain fights/mechanics if needed, and staying in group so players can complete the quest.

It helps somewhat that they've listed the desired role now with certain skills, but those skills could benefit from explicit warnings: WILL FORCE MOB TO AGGRESSIVELY ATTACK YOU--AND ONLY YOU--FOR 15 SECONDS. Or something. New players just see the armor/ spell resist reduction and think it's an awesome skill.
