And yes I feel frost skill line doesn't fit at all to a shaman/druid-like class. I'm going to have fin playing warden nevertheless.
Frost tanking is almost non existant as far as I've seen recently, but maybe that will change with Morrowind? Who knows... I at least know that is not what I wanted for my saved frost gear/ staves =\

I thought it was interesting, and fun...

Oh god no. While I appreciate the sentiment, can you imagine streaking bol-ing globe of OP-ness using magma armor(I ran short on most op dk skill there, been a while since I played mine so please add a better one there if you can)?
What works well in terms of roleplaying really doesn't work well in terms of balance, especially in a game with an elemt of competitiveness to it
You say "fire damage has a class of its own (dragon knight), lightning damage has a class of its own (sorceror)".
However, both of those classes really only have one skill tree thats dedicated to a particular element. Dk has ardent flame, sorc has storm calling. Earthen heart, draconic power, daedric summoning, and dark magic have nothing to do with fire or lightning.
The warden is fine with its frost tree. Frost is fine as a defensive element - not everything needs to be about damage.
