But... IIRC they said something about there being so many other options on PC that they weren't looking into adding this.

I think so. There are plenty of existing options so it would be pretty low on the priority list.

I think that in itself is a problem, I myself have 6 different voice apps installed with multiple server settings although I think discord is the easiest to use so far.

If everyone used the same voice chat like you do with Battle.Net playing the game in groups would be so much easier.

    Text or 3rd party here

I don't think I could take some leet d00d or 13 year old running their mouth to me in game. I play games to relax after a *** day at work which sometimes includes speaking to guildies in our own voice server. In a perfect world where everyone was respectable I'd say sure let's use some built in voice comm but we all know that isn't the case..

This game needs limited voice chat. By limited I mean for group dungeons, battlegrounds, etc. That way players will have it where it is needed most, and not have to put up with the negatives, when just walking around towns etc.

The excuse that there are 3rd party apps misses the point. Sure certain groups of friends, guilds , etc. may use the same 3rd party apps, but if you are running with any sort of PUG group, the chances of everyone using such apps, let alone all using the same, is slim.

A lot of the negative experiences players have with these groups, and the negative reputation they get, mainly boils down to lack of proper communication. So having an in game chat facility would not only make the playing experience better, but hopefully encourage more people to do the group activities in the game.

Yes, however it would put an pug group even more in disadvantage over an organized one.

They say the group finder will prefer to match ready groups together and pugs together.
Hopefully it would work a bit better than the dungeon queue.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I would have to must so many players. Only one game I played had in game voip and there was so many mindless absurd conversations that I really do not want to hear.

Most important, I do not want to hear that guy that thinks he knows how to play rage. Just a bad idea.

I really dislike third party voice chat programs, mostly because I don't want to have to worry about setting them up all the time...

I would however use a party chat function if it was part of ESO. But that is all, party voice chat, not area voice chat - latter seems like it would detract from the game more then it offered...

If we are talking about battlegrounds, there wouldn't be a specific party chat or area chat, just whoever spawns on your team. I guess in some games you can hear the enemy players, but usually I think you can't.

People prefer the 3rd party apps anyway even if the game would provide in game voip. There are not that many voip applications that are used commonly and installing them is not like reinstalling your operating system. Most of the people use either TS3 or Mumble. Sure PUGs would not prolly join server if you had one and most likely would not plug in their mic if there was in game voip.

If every multiplayer game would have in game voip you would have to anyway set them up individually. Think it would be easier to get something like TS3 and set it up ONCE and every time you needed voip with people you just open up TS3 and join the server.

Yeah, for a pre-made group I'd run in discord. For PUGS though? I'd still like to be able to quickly and effectively communicate over voice, if ever possible.

Yes, there are players in AD, DC or EP guilds who almost always play together with voice chat and have an advantage when they fight against enemies who don't use voice.

However, when you queue up for Battlegrounds matches, most of us will not be in any kind of guild group. The teams aren't even determined by faction. Who wants to spawn and argue about which voice comms server to use, problems installing client, etc.?

And there are many players who will simply never install any voice client. There is a good chance you end up with at least some of these players on your team.

The point of integrating voice chat would be for gameplay and team coordination in BG matches to be at a basic level comparable to any modern team deathmatch / multiplayer arena game.

If you are queuing with a pre-made group of guild mates, you can always use your own TS or discord etc., but when you are playing by yourself, there is the expectation that in 2017 you should be able to spawn into a random match and easily communicate with teammates.

I am not touching any TS where I cant ban, or know the person who can.

No chance in hell that I spend my evening listening to drunk brits whining at drunk germans.

Voice chat would be a nice feature, and many players would be probably happy cause of it, but personally I wouldn't use it anyway.

I imagine it would be similar to how it works on console - you can't hear enemy players and you can block anybody you want or disable it entirely.
