Question regarding fencing

Been looking into creating a thief for extra money, obviously I'd go NB for cloak but do I need to level him up at all to make the most money or can I make an adequate amount from staying like level 5? lol I know it's a weird question, I am grinding a Stam Sorc and I don't feel like leveling another room until Morrowind. Thanks

✭Most of what you steal is the same no matter the level of your toon with the exception of course of armour, jewelry, weapons...that kind of stuff. As far as I know the value is the same when you Fence it no matter the toon level.0 -
You can do almost as well. What you won't be able to do at level 5 is be nearly as effective at pickpocketing (since you won't have skill points for the passives to buff that). THere are some small perks you can invest in that help you get a little more for fenced goods. Depending upon where you are looking to steal, being able to stay in stealth for long stretches can be helpful and that is obviously going to be a lot more difficult for a level 5 than a high level character.
So you can be reasonably effective even as a lowbie, providing you find the right locations to steal stuff.0 -
