How does Physical Resistances work with the passive 2 handed skill

Hi Guys
I am tying understand something, How does Physical Resistances work with the passive 2 handed heavy skill : Maces cause your attacks to ignore 20% of your target's Physical Resistance.
Is it almost like a form of amplification? As damage reduction would reduce the damage that is caused to you, this increases the amount you can cause but it is something that is set based on how much physical resistance your opponent has. Meaning someone with not much physical resistance this skill will not make much of a difference but with someone that has does have a lot it will help.

✭✭It's a percentage, so it bypasses 20 % of your target resistance, it's much worse then the sharpened 5k flat penetration to be honest.
I would run sword.0 -

✭Unless it changed:
(Armor - penetration) *.8 = targets armor for dmg calc

If I go maces, based on the condition if im going against a tank it is going to have a use
but if i got with greatsword it will be useful all the time.

✭✭Mauls are the way forward against anything heavy armor...so in essence 99% of Cyro atm. Most people are rocking over 15k res...stam is running with 10k pen max. Go with mauls.PC Master Race

✭✭✭✭Penetration reduces the enemies resistance. If your opponent has 15k resistance, you have 5k penetration = opponent has 10k resistance. IIrc around 650 resistance is about 1% mitigated incoming damage.
So penetration is basically the counter to resistance. But mind that not everyone runs high resistance so it's possible to over-penetrate some enemies. Also, magickal shields don't work with the penertration/ resistance system.0 -

ifDoubtNerfIt✭✭✭@Blockz888 if you have access to vMA weapons, try running 5x Spriggan, 3x Agility, 2x Velidreth, or 2x Pirate Skeleton (yes, this is a really good set), with vMA 2h and bow. In theory you could get any Black Rose nerd to "light armor"

Interesting idea for set, I am currently going for 5x hulking draug, 3x agilty 1x selene and 1x blood spawn.
