Wardens...err...Hunters?

Was checking out some of the skills allotted to Wardens over at esoskill-factory, the buffs they have seem insane. The ranged support seems incredibly strong. However more importantly they seem to have tied their output to the pets, at least for stamina. Which in essence makes them clones of World of Warcraft Hunters, I mean really for all the "we want to be unique, not another WoW" why would you tie your ranged support to pets?

Nothing like the Hunter class from WOW.

The "pets" of the Warden are just attack animations, not an actual physical entity. Only exceptions being the Netch and the Bear ultimate.

Right because in WoW you could have all your pets out at once....Oh wait you could only do that with a particular skill and it had a long CD.

The bear is a direct mimic of WoW its out permanently and needs to be re-summoned. The ultimate is eerily similar to Kill Command. Gaining all your passive buffs from pets is exactly the same as Hunters.

The bear offers an execute esque function which is exactly one of the weak points of ranged dps. The skill line offers more damage for having it slotted. So no its not exactly the same, I mean you don't have to have the bear your just gimping yourself. Oh wait WoW does that now too. It's unique and different while following in the same mold: "You want to use a bow, here's a pet to tag along with you."

You could say the same thing about every "pet" class in every MMO. LOTRO, Rift, even City of Heroes (RIP), etc.

Let alone, every MMO with a fantasy spin has a "hunter" "Ranger" "Warden" type class/profession that does well with animals.

Believe it or not, WoW took cues from other games too. ;-)

    Rexxar and Misha anyone?

Two characters from WoW lore now staring in ESO er Hero's of the Storm:

"Rexxar's trusted companion, Misha, is a magical bear who will fight at Rexxar's side whenever she is called upon. Misha battles ferociously, and loyally follows Rexxar to every location he travels to. Rexxar is very protective of Misha when they enter civilized areas, and ensures that the bear stays close to him."

Rexxar summons Cliff Racers err Bird of Prey
Rexxar summons a Haja Mota to charge and stun oh sorry thats Misha that charges and stuns.
Rexxar heals himself with basic attacks through Lotus Blossom oh sorry Misha's basic attacks heal her and Rexxar.

Edit:Yes WoW is not completely original by any extent. Only that so much of the Warden tool kit appears to address the complaints of bow users without actually fixing them. Just here's a ranged spammable for a new class, here's Major Brutality and Minor Berserk for a new class, here's more execute functions for a new class, and here's a stereo type pet hunter garbage. Except for ESO already has a pet class Sorcerer. Didn't need another and didn't need to tie it to ranged stamina DPS ie Bows.

Having the rare gift of having played both Hunters from WoW and the Warden, the two of them only share the fact that they have pets and function well as ranged DPS.

Their playstyles are nothing alike, as the pets function as utility rather than the bulk of your damage. Furthermore, you have to manage your pets, unlike in WoW.

The only damaging pet that works remotely like the Hunter's, was the Bear ultimate, and it's hardly the only ultimate option you'll have. Most players won't even use it in PvE due to it having 0 aoe potential and forcibly having to double bar.

I did that with my Stam Sorc, but those pets are Magicka based damage so they only provided minimal benefits mostly in outdoors, they were useless in dungeons or any group content. One patch nerfed them pretty bad and then the switch from Veteran to Champion when mobs went from V10 to 160cp destroyed them.

They will certainly not be clones.

if you want to go down the "its like wow hunter" then i will go down the "its like everquest conjurer" remember WoW took a bunch of its classes from everquest.

There is no such thing as an original idea. Everything is inspired from something else. That said, If you think the warden is a wow hunter clone you are objectively stupid. Do me a favor and point out a hunters restoration spec and their frost defensive spec. Can't? Well duh.

I mean really, if you think every game is going to have completely unique ideas... Reread my statement about if you think warden is a hunter clone.
