Are bound items viable for master writs?

As you see the topic, question is clear I guess.
If anyone experienced this or the item must be BOE?

    I believe the item must be unbound, although I'm not 100% sure though.

    You have to craft it yourself, so no bound items. For example, if you have Imperial edition you cannot convert to Imperial. You must know the style.

    To be safe I would not equip something before turning in the writ.
