Light armor users jerkin vs robe

I always preferred to use jerkin over the robe as I thought that robes look ugly. Now I am planning on trying out robes to see how my characters look. So what do you guys prefer?

sexiperson- breton templar lvl 50

Depends on the style. 90% of the time I hate the robe because it hangs all the way down around your ankles, in particular I actually prefer the robe on Mercenary style because it adds a duster-like extension down the back and sides with the front exposed more.

Try Minotaur light. Both Jerkin and Robe has the same style almost. It's really cool. Makes your mag character look like a Gladiator.

Personally I almost always choose the robe.

Still.... I find that I feel forced to wear a costume when wearing BiS gear due to the lack of a gear style changing option :disappointed:

I feel you. That's why I use at least one crafted set while trying to maintain one BiS set

Prefer the jerkin. Would prefer robes if they were knee length over pants. Classic wizard robe look is ruined by hip flappers and shoulder wingies anyway. Ironic that low level light armor looks ever so much better to me than higher level versions.

I try to put robe on female characters, and the jerkin on males. I think it looks better that way, even if both styles have been seen on both genders.

    Prefer robes
One option is the daeric skirt bottom, as far as I know its the only skirt

Bonus as it can be combined with heavy or medium top
Is it other styles who have skirts?

Jerkins, cause if i want a Robe-ish look, i equip a legs that is a skirt. I hate the fact most Robes go all the way to the ground.

I always use robes for my healer because I wanted more of a mage-ish look.

Lately though I've always just worn a costume since I switch gear all the time and don't want to keep changing my looks.

Robes always. I'm a wizard, it feels wrong not wearing a robe. I usually wear a costume regardless, which incidentally is always a robe.

Well since I do not like wearing a dress and get tired of the stereotyping of magic users I prefer the jerkin.

    Depends on the style.

Without a doubt it depends on the light armor style.

One of the best jerkin styles is Order of the Hour.

There are a lot of great robe styles, too, like Ra Gada (which just debuted a little while ago).

Usually I use heavy armor piece on chest but when I use light I choose Jerkin over robe 99% of the time.
One reason I love ESO is that it doesn't force casters to dress in a skirt

Depends on style, of the 5(6 with my future warden) 2 uses robe, and 3/4 uses jerkin.
edit: forgot my dunmer also uses light jerkin.

I use jerkins on female characters and robes on male ones.
And robe is good to hide the legs from other set. Hided helmet, 3 pieces of jewerly and legs under robe = the style you want to see on other parts. (works with 5+5 setups)

Jerkin. Most of the robes have terrible "flapping" bottoms and stiff animations.

Usually a jerkin, although my sorcerer at the moment is wearing a heavy chest piece and ancient orc looks sort of like a long robe-ish top with a 'skirt' open at the front:
    eso.mmo-fashion.com/ancient-orc-rubedite/.
Apart from that mercenary is a good 'robe without being a long dress' look.

Robe is crucial for the wizard look imo.

Which is exactly why I always prefer the robe to the jerkin. People are out here calling themselves mages, but don't wear the proper attire. Smh.

Dress and stick and you can do anything... no wait that was back in 1.3.

Personal preference, I usually go jerkin when crafting but if a BiS drop is a robe, robe it is.

Depends on character for me really. If I want a more Mage theme I use robes, if I want a more sneaky or warrior theme I use jerkin.

Although most of my characters use costumes these days because why not?

If we are talking about BSW, wearing Jerkin or Robe makes no difference since legs are a skirt.

I generally like jerkins better, am wearing xivkyn jerkin but robe looks cool as well.
