I find it weird you guys look at it this way. I mean, admittedly some people do just do it for the mount and then *** because they didn't get one. But most of the people, myself included, who bought the crates that I know did so because they were interested in a wide variety of the items in the crates. I spent $43 plus my saved up sub crowns to buy two sets of 15 crates.
For my purchase, I got;
3 mounts (Doom Wolf/Black Cat/Guar)
9 pets
12 costumes
2 hats
1 eye makeup
3 tatoos, 2 face/1 body
2 hair styles
An aura
And I finished off my main's mount speed training, needed 10. I was an idiot when I first started and put points into stamina.
So I'd estimate a worth of around 22400 crowns for that. More than double the crowns I spent. And of the things i got, I use the mounts, pets and costumes often. I wear the tattoo set as the main tattoo on one of my characters now and use one of the hats a ton. The only things I don't really use are the hairstyles, the aura and the eye makeup.
But I am a collector and, while I don't RP in the traditional sense, I love swapping outfits/pets/mounts based on weather, biome, character personality/race, time of day, what quest I'm doing, how I feel at the time, etc. So while I had zero interest in the wild hunt mounts and could have actually bought one with my left over gems, I feel I more than got my money's worth from the crates and am very happy with them.
If you're going in expecting to get an Apex mount, just don't really. I lucked into one from the atronach crates (don't really use it) but it's gambling. If you're going in looking for a ton of the items in there then you'll be happy. They're not for everyone.Edited by Sibenice on March 18, 2017 8:54PM2 -

✭✭✭✭✭Still trying to get oneI went on a little St. Patrick's Day splurge with a 5500 crown pack plus sub crowns. Green theme, green holiday? Lucky, right? Well...
Aside from getting ambushed with enough Retrievers and Banekin to give me pet nightmares, I got most of the non-Apex I wanted through pulls or gems. I really like the mememos. It'll be fun applying those to my Warden. I also got a substantial amount of mimic stones, which will help in the future.
Wild Hunt is sort of like Magic's Fallen Empires or Homestead expansions for me. I didn't buy packs upon packs of those cards for the power. None of those cards ever helped my decks get stronger. I bought them for the pieces of story they had about a bigger conflict. For the first time I was seeking lore more than the ability to win. Which was exciting for me because it wasn't just a game anymore. It was an expanding narrative even when I didn't have a friend to play against.
So I can definitely understand why some people like the cosmetics as much - or more - than the game/combat. Every waking moment does not have to be about leaderboards and pwnage.
I don't think the next two seasons of crates will interest me nearly as much, and the first one didn't. so I'm going to crack away at this one some more. Disappointed I don't have an Apex (or two) yet, but don't feel ripped off. Except for the Retriever. He can get in the sea.signing off3 -
