Are Imperials viable as Stam DPS in PvE?

Hey all,

Another race question for you. Given Imperials +10% Stamina, how viable are they for PvE Stam DPS? I currently have an Imperial Stam DK for PvP and was thinking about running him as Stam DPS in PvE as I'm not a very good tank. How do Imperials compare DPS-wise to Khajit and Redguard? Is it even viable?

No offence, but... People are getting far too caught up with racials. They are only really significant if you have everything else perfect (including a perfect machine that let's you use your perfect skill rotation in your bis gear). I don't know you OP, but if you aren't in a very competitive end game trials build you needn't worry too much.

With that said, +10% stam is basically the best attribute for a stam build. Extra health is always a plus, only the red diamond passive is a bit meh, but still not terrible. Imperial is an utterly OK race, and they look quite nice!

Imperials are made for tanking more, but they're still a capable DPS.

If you just want more Stamina then it's a win win regardless of whether you go with Redguard or Imperials since they both have the most stamina in game.

The key differences between the two is that Redguards offer better resource management whilst Imperials offer better survivability. An Imperial will never be able to recover as much stamina as a Redguard, although the Redguards will always be the most vulnerable to one-hit killing blows.

In that sense, I suggest you go with the race which buffs you up in the area you're weakest in. If you don't want to be dead after a single blow then go Imperial, if you don't want to have to waste time waiting for your stamina bar to fill up again then go Redguard.

If you decide you don't want to be a full DPS or if you decide not to be a DPS at all then Imperials are better than Redguards in most other scenarios. The extra health and stamina makes Imperial builds more flexible and customisable and even makes them a viable choice for Magicka builds (so long as it's not a healer).

Don't get me wrong, Redguards are still a good choice and I'd reccomend them for most things over a Nord, but you can do that bit more with Imperials.

Aye, they're on par with the secondary choices (redguard, bosmer, better than dunmer and nord too). Extra beef instead of help with sustain is all.

'course, all races can pull 'viable' dps as any role, given you're not looking to be 'viable' in the top end of the leaderboards.

As long as they have some sort of bonus benefit your playstyle, you can use it.Imperials do same dps as redguards as long as you have the sustain for it. So yes, imperial will work just fine. With ebon and warhorn active, the 12% hp is nice as well, specially if you are doing veteran trials.

OP, Play what you want.. Seriously, don't mean to be rude but you can complete and compete in 98% of the games content. You won't handle the other 2% of content until you have played enough to realize this...

People who tell you otherwise spend too much time watching other people play and not enough time playing the game yourself.

Play as a Orc Mag Sorc or Alt Stam NB...it will only truely matter once you begin to compete in top end trials, which is like %1 of the game.

Stamina dps for pve has always been very poor compared to magicka for 90% of this games lifespan. I suggest going magicka as they top stamina in every aspect possible.

I'm pretty sure that a StamDK is still pretty much unrivaled in single-target DPS.

And even if they aren't, the problem is less with DPS and more with ability to survive Trial mechanics.
