Just take the time to read most of the PvP threads on these forums and you'll see one reason people are put off it. The community is hostile an abusive to many.I'm curious to see some of the answers as well. The great thing about ESO PvP is that it's mostly open world, and in general has the feel of a greater goal than building personal e-peen. If you want to build your skill and present yourself with a real challenge, Cyrodiil is where it's all at. It's super surprising how many people don't even want to give it a chance.
I agree with what ADarklore said, whilst I have done PvP and enjoyed it and still do to some extent, I want to come back from work and relax, not be stressed out by the plethora of issues PvP has or the hostility of some in the PvP community.
It works both ways. The majority of forum PvPers are the elitist (just as the majority of PvEers in the forums).
You shouldn't base anything off of what the small percentage of ppl that use the forums think.
PvEers can be just as abusive but pretend they're not.
Ever been in a group that kicked someone because they were subpar and continued to do crappy stuff to get your group wiped? I've seen that happen plenty. And you don't think that that person was upset over that?
People that prefer PvP are the same as ppl that prefer PvE, they just have separate gaming preferences. I made this thread to figure out why.
See my previous post.
Edit. Also "PvE players are just as bad" doesn't make PvP any better or a reason for people to join.
General PvE you don't openly come to meet the toxic side of PvE, however PvP places you in a zone and chat where those members are and have to directly deal with them.
I don't like pvp because I just suck against other players. In PvE I do great, and I really enjoy it. But no matter what gear I use, how I spec, make my build, where I put my CP, it doesn't matter. I don't last more than 20 seconds against anyone in Cyrodiil. And it's not for lack of trying, I've played since first beta and dabbled in PvP several times. Been through various different builds with every class and it just never works out. And then when I do lose horribly, the PvP players just constantly insult and laugh at you. It's not an enjoyable experience. In PvE everyone seems to want to help each other because they need to work together to succeed

Do you turn your zone chat off in PvE zones, or just not look at it..?
After a (irrational) outcry from the upcoming CP adjustments from much of the forum community, I keep seeing "most of us don't PvP... etc. etc."
Why?
Everyone that I've introduced into PvP that was very against it, turned out to not being against it at all. By introduced I mean I helped them to know what to expect and how to respond and what skills are needed to help emerge victorious.
Secondly, I have always been a adamant PvPer, but still enjoy "endgame" type pve. I spend 95% of my time PvPing, yet receive compliments in pve often, and I attribute that to the skills I've used and learned in PvP. Without PvP I don't believe I would be as good as I am in PvE.
It's no secrect that pvp'ers make the best pve'ers.
The situational awareness, on the fly thinking, and quickly reacting, etc. all directly translates to pve content.

Is this a PC thing? Are you the guy who isn't listening to your crown? Were you telling stories about your science teacher while someone was trying to get 18 people to siege Chalman keep?
In truth, I solo more now than ever because I'm tired of playing with people who give up at the first sign of trouble.

PvP 3 years never got hate mail or whispers ever. I also don't run in groups maybe that's it
I get the "bags" a lot but laugh it off and respawn.
Like others have said in this thread it's more pve is predictable and easy to learn. PvP is on the fly you don't know what's going to happen or when, you need better reactive skills. Same reason why new player are bad in dungeons while longer playing player are better at them, when you done something a million times you know exactly what's going to happen at exactly what time.

Vercingetorix wrote: »I have no interest in any PvP content in any game. The primary problem with PvP is that it doesn't bring anything constructive to the table. With PvE and Co-Op content you work together with others towards a collective goal - everyone is rewarded and everyone learns to work together. No one complains that someone's build is "OP" or "unfair" because the group's goal is to finish the content and everyone is going to get a reward. Co-Op (PvE) is CONSTRUCTIVE. You BUILD people up in PvE.
However, with PvP nothing is gained by others participating in the content, only one person at most gets anything at all - chiefly a shallow ego boost and for what? Do you have such low self-worth that the only way you can justify yourself to the world is to beat on others? PvP at its core in ANY game is DESTRUCTIVE, content that devolves into animals tearing each other apart over a f*** percentage.
Now, the problem is specifically with Cyrodiil and the terrible attempt to put PvE content in PvP. That's the big issue for most players. We mostly want to quest in peace, complete achievements and hunt skyshards in peace. Some of us even go out of our way to AVOID combat, sneaking halfway across the map just so we can be left alone. No one enjoys that. The best solution is to put a "Pre-War" Cyrodiil with only PvE allowed (not even duels) and then keep the "Alliance War" Cyrodiil with PvP. Next, the changes to abilities in PvP should be governed by the Battle Spirit buff and PvE content should be isolated from these changes.
People who are against separating PvP and PvE are the immature children that need to hurt others to have self-worth. By providing the option to engage in PvP and separating its "balance" changes, no one is harmed by ether side of the table. Isolation is the solution to Cyrodiil.

It's easier just to avoid things and blame monsters in the closet then it is to take your lumps and get better.
For example: I'm in 5 different guilds. My friends guild with 10 people and my trade guild don't really count. The other 3 are a PVP guild and two PVE guilds. The majority of the PVE guild players, when the topic of PVP comes up respond "why would you ever even step foot in that place" and usually add that they tried it once or twice but died a lot and never came back.
Also, PVE only players tend to be absurdly unself aware. Please note the daily posts on this forum started by PVE players complaining about PVP players getting PVE skills nerfed even though the nerfs are directed at PVE and the complaining comes significantly more from the PVEr side.

I guess you can say PvE players make the best PvP players.
I took my PvE guild to PvP to level their AW skills. In the beginning I wasn't sure if we should hide from the enemy or fight. I hid, and the group fought. The group destroyed all the PvP players.
PvE players work together and know how to listen. This is where most PvP players fail.
I've been PVP'ed twice. My toon got murdered a few times. It was all good to me. No butt hurt comments other than "wow that was quick!". Zone chat was funny too. I like it there - one day I'm going to attempt a PVP "build-out" and add this to the list of fun things to do in ESO.
I'd PVP and get my toon murdered over and over any day (while learning more and more about...PVP) as opposed to the soulless, mind numbing grind that is alikir's dolmen rings, skyreach catacombs , <fill in the blank> .
And really, who cares if their toon gets teabagged? Really, seriously, who cares. Pixels on a screen. Someone bothering you in whispers and zone. Ignore them! Done.
However PvP players lack the understanding of PvE mechanics or builds. I've taken "only PvP" players to PvE before and they had no idea how to actually get a high and sustained DPS because they were so used to short burst combat or environmental defensive combat (line of sight). After a (irrational) outcry from the upcoming CP adjustments from much of the forum community, I keep seeing "most of us don't PvP... etc. etc."

If you took 11 CP 600 fully geared PVE only players into Cyrodiil with 1 good PVP guide to lead them they would get destroyed more often than not.
If you started a vet trial with 11 CP 600 PVP only players with 1 good PVE guide they would complete the dungeon and possibly do it with a speed run.

Hardly. I'm willing to bet that if most were to watch a video or read up on the mechanics of a fight that could execute it wonderfully. Actually knowing a fight's mechanics can be vital to actually beating something. Same when it comes to class builds for dps.
I mean come on. If a person pvp's all day and rarely does pve content, of course they are going to suck pretty bad if thrust into it. The exact same could be said tossing pve players into pvp. They're going to get eaten alive!
Don't mistake a lazy person that refuses to do a bit of reading or research with someone who simply doesn't know something. This directly translates to both pvp and pve interchangeably.
The uninformed can be taught and informed, but there is no helping the lazy ones.

I am just trying to make the counter point to "all PvP lpayers are great PvE players as if the reverse is not true.
A good player is a good player as you say, it's going to be down the each players ability and one form of gameplay will not make a better player than another, they'll have strengths in different areas and different levels of ability to adapt.
