Sabre mount, quick question

I noticed this mount has armor by default already (oddly?), so I have these questions..

Since I have everything in the stables maxed out (speed, stamina, carry capacity), should I expect to have different looking "upgraded" armor/etc on this mount or does it only have one set armor no matter my upgrades?

When I "hide mount upgrades", will my upgraded mount's armor (if it exists?) revert to the standard gold colored armor it comes with? Will it be a bare sabre cat (doubtedly since armor seems to be default) like what happens with other mounts?
I'm just confused and I'm not sure if I asked this in a way it made sense, so sorry about that.

Thanks for reading.

The armor won't change no matter what you do. They essentially disabled being able to show the stamina, carrying capacity and speed upgrades on this mount. The elk was the same way, I've heard. So once you get the sabre cat, he'll always look this way, with the armor and nothing else, and you can't take the armor off. It's like the Alliance War Dog (mastiff) in the crown store ... the armor is a permanent decoration.
Enabling the speed upgrade won't give it a harness over the armor, for example. The harness just won't show at all.

Ouch. Don't know if I'll buy it then if it's lacking things most older mounts have that sold for the same price...

Thanks for the quick response, friend.

The Morrowind expansion will be coming with a Dwemer-armored horse mount, and I suspect that mount will be the same way. :)

Will it? I haven't seen it yet. I'm not sure how anyone else feels, but...
I don't think taking away the option to partially "customize" (if you can even call it that) something already far from unique is a good idea. I guess they'll profit either way, though.

Based on recent trends, any mount that doesn't piggy-back off already existing mounts with the evolving armor feature will probably not get that armor feature. Sad to see imo

I was disappointed by this too. I like the mount but not the gold armour so I'd like to be able to hide it, or at least tone it down a bit. As it is I don't think I'll be buying it.

It seems like it should be relatively straight-forward to do. The Sabre Cat has a saddle, with 4 pouches on the back, armour on it's head and "leg warmers" - essentially the same as the upgrades given to the various senche mounts. So they could be tied to the upgrades in the same way - stamina gives it armour, speed gives it leggings and carrying capacity gives it bags. Or those pieces could be included by default but you have the option to hide them and just have the saddle.

As for the dwemer horse that comes with the Morrowind Collector's edition its a recolour of the Alliance warhorses and those have fixed armour too - they start off with full armour and none of the upgrades change their appearance in any way. Since it's just a recolour it's a pretty safe bet the Dwemer horse will work the same way.

Seems ZOS has gotten lazy in putting out quality mounts that in the past gave the player the option to change their appearance. An example is the Deer Mount and now this Sabre Cat and it is a trend I believe that will not change. Guess its easier to put out a mount with permanent armor. The quality of this game is continually getting worse. Examples Shadow of the Hist which provided two new Undaunted Delves (Wow big deal with some new dropped sets but no new crafted sets), then One Tamrial which just opened up the entire game to each faction without having to do Caldwell's Gold and Silver with new dropped sets and again no new crafted sets. Now the Housing which with no storage is one big rip off. But it's ZOS's game and I believe they could care less. They know players will still spend money no matter what game content they put out or fork out money on their schemes they add to the Crown Store (i.e Crown Crates).

It's not just a recolor, although they might have used the Alliance horse mesh as the base model to create a new mesh from. They did change the mesh a bit for the Dwemer horse, as it has some pokey-outy bits on the armor that the Alliance horse doesn't have.
