Rings of Mara. Stupid question

Me and my friend have the rings of Mara but since we got "married" both of us changed our characters names. So both rings say created by our old characters names. Do they still work? I would test it out myself but im away from my computer for a while.

Did the ring before give ur toon a buff? Like on ps4 is on charecter there u see all the buffs . Pc well if have those addons u can see every single one all the time. If ur subscribed u see the ten percent xp buff5
