The math is simple.
With how the release schedule has been it is simply cheaper to buy all the content than paying $180 per year (monthly sub amount).
Only if you find a lot of value in the crown allotment (18,000 per year) and would be spending that much in extra cash anyway is a sub good value for you.
I was sitting on nearly that much crowns until Homestead came along, then I used them to buy my house to save my in-game gold, but honestly using gold would have been fine too.
TL:DR if you already spend money to buy crowns to purchase Crown Store stuff then a sub may be better value for you (if the craft bag was removed).

TAKE THAT!

However, Zenimax have began taking it in a direction I don't like, with their addition of the con crates, the backtracking over the DLC, the price hikes in the crown store, and so on.
I've been feeling so disillusioned with all this, and more, like their nerf's in the name of balance, making crafting virtually useless, that I no longer feel that its important to support ESO. I now only sub for the bag.

The whole point to me having a subscription in a B2P game is; because I love the game and I want to help support the game to make sure it keeps going strong and growing.
This is also the same mentality that leads me to still buy each DLC, even though I get access to them all as long as my subscription stays current.
The perks that ZOS offers subscribers for their subscriptions are just that, perks. If they sold the Crafting Bag in the Crown Store for non-subscribers, I would still keep my subscription as I have since the game launched.
Because my reasons for subscribing are not limited to the perks I receive for it.
