Zos - Whats with the insane gold drops from mobs?

countless money sinks and no real gold gain from killing mobs. If they were discouraging trying to get money by grinding and avoid inflation, they've just encouraged people to grind harder, and it's never pleasant.

I sell set pieces that drop for sometimes 500-800 gold, not even daily. I eventually just gave up and sold all my gold improvement materials because they keep changing set bonuses and don't intend to stop.

I either have to quest all day in cyrodiil just to get any sort of income (and the rewards aren't exactly impressive,) which, btw, can accrue larger costs if I eat through food (and potions if I get attacked.)
Dear Sister, I do not spread rumors, I create them.

You guys are aware you can sell items to the merchant right?

yes that is where the grinding comes in. Kill a lot of mobs, sell what you get (decon the blue items and glyphs.)

    "More gold drops = inflation"
Not quite true. Player trade inflation sure, but that is no the issue! In fact, player trade should be a lot more expensive. A normal motif is abour 150g, repairing after dying one time in vr: 250g. It's a lot more expensive to buy a normal item from a merchant than a purple from the guild store: wtf?
The issue is the monetary interactions with NPC, they should either drop all NPC prices (repairs, soul gems, items, etc) or aument the mob's gold drop.

You don't even need to grind really, Just run a few circles in a Public Dungeon every now and again.

I don't know what public dungeons you are running circles in but a couple runs through is not even remotely profitable. It takes me many many hours of grinding to bring in any significant anout of gold.

Anyway, this discussion is irrelevant: grinders are happy like this. Normal players will eventually get tired of the game and Zenimax team probably won't ever read this topic

For God's sakes. Plants are selling for 80g to 150g EACH. Pick some damn plants and make a fortune, fast. I had my 17.5k horse at Level 10. Sell green gear in the Guild Stores; not the single stat stuff, the stuff with Traits. Folks will buy them for Trait Training. Play the damn game.

Gold Farming - Doing something repetitive to obtain a lot of gold.

Now if all the monsters dropped gold directly, it would be easy to farm gold.

Add in a step: Monsters drop random trash to sell, and resources are available in fairly large quantities.

To Acquire Gold - Players must kill monsters, sell drops, and gather resources then sell those. Break apart greens/blues and sell rare crafting materials too.

A single person can do all this... you could make 10K a weekend without too much trouble . Selling to vendors, and players. I'm confident 20K wouldn't be out of the questions for people who closely watch markets.

All of this could easily be transferred to killing monsters... but then the consequences of that change would bring about more negatives than positives.

lol 10k a weekend. That's worth my time. And it will pay for like 2 days of pvp, then I can do it all over again, amirite?

Well, if you are getting killed that much in PvP, then I think you are doing it wrong. In ESO, you need to work at not getting killed, running back, getting killed, endlessly. Not that type of PvP game.

Also, I assume you are geared VR10/VR12 doing PvP. Otherwise, you are really just asking for the repair bills.

Exactly. I don't grind or farm for hours and i'm making good gold by using these few simple rules:

    - How much jute do you really need? Store a few stacks in the bank and then, after extracting mats from raw jute/iron type nodes and sell additional stacks for 400 gold each.

    - Sell all white loot items (except if they have a trait you need to research).
By now, your craft should be at an level where white items don't give you any noticeable XP anymore when deconstructed, so turn them into money.

    - Collect provisioning mats and turn them into food and drinks and turn around and sell that to vendors. Invest a skillpoint or two into making multiples and you got some easy money right there. Provisioning mats are stupendously plentiful.

    ;-)

Money drop is nice. I Just bought 4 black horses just for the fun. I don't kill things to get money. I just play normally and sell things. And I'm poor. I know peeps in game who have 900k gold. I don't think they killed 900000 times a mob. :)

umm there are no repair costs for death in pvp so it has nothing to do with repairs lol.

at low levels (which this is obviously geared towards) I'm sure this works wonders. I have been getting a small but steady influx of money from my alts since they still have quests. One repair bill for me from doing dungeons can cost me over 3k if I take awhile before repairing.

That is what I had thought, but maybe it had changed. So, if no repairs in PvP still, then what was the meaning of this? --

Dying to monsters/beasts and PvE content in PvP does still damage your gear.

PvP though... player on player/guards doesn't.

I must die dozens of times a night and never have to repair. Though I have an auto-repair addon so never really pay attention. Definitely not losing gold though.

potions, food, soul gems. Sometimes I buy the siege equipment to hoard ap. A good full day adds up fast, and you get no real income doing it.

When you are VR 12, it's not much fun carrying everything you see just to buy potions or repair. It's pretty damn fine getting 1g at lvl 1. But getting the same ammount at end game? From bosses? It should scale better

Uh, hello? ZOS, I asked a question and your not bothering to reply? That's quite rude.

But then again, customer service is certainly NOT one of your strong skills. Nor is programming, or fixing bugs, or prioritizing game repairs, or conceptualizing game systems, or living up to stated promises. Hmmm, what ARE you good at?

All I could think of was this:

You're expecting ZOS to reply immediately to a post on the general forums? Hah. Are you new to video games? Replying to people whinging on the forums is very, very low on their list of priorities.

So THIS is your real issue, not the gold drop rate.

You can make VAST amounts of gold questing, playing the market, harvesting and selling mats, Selling gear from killing things, etc.

Grinding mudcrabs for 12 hours at a time will not make you rich. If you want to make a living from just standing there grinding, this may not be your game.

If you want ZoS to respond immediately to your overly aggressive and whiny question - this is DEFINITELY not your game...
