Housing: The Best Way to Add Walls?

Right now I'm using screens to divide larger spaces into smaller ones; I suppose that tall bookcases could also be used the same way. Do any of you creative folks in the community have better or different ideas for changing the indoor spaces? I wish that they sold actual wall panels in the housing editor or in-game --then you could really give a cold Nordic home a warm Kajiti feel!

✭✭✭✭✭I've taken a stab at using the Orcish Block Bar (NOT the Orcish Block Stage as sadly that has feet) and stacking them. It gets tricky the farther you get from the floor (the way the camera is set up means everything is at an angle). One of my guildies divides spaces off by hanging banners and that looked nice, and would probably be easier to do.#proud2BAStarObsessedLoony

But yes more building elements are needed in more styles, would not use the rogh planks inside a nice Khajiit house for one.

✭This is how I do walls inside of my Forsaken Stronghold homestead. It's cheaper than doing all stone but also has a solid appearance.
I have a stripper stage, zoo, treehouse sky deck for partying and also racial themed VIP rooms. Bosmer is featured.

✭✭✭✭✭What looks best will depend on the house, but common choices are wide planks, the Orcish Block Bar, tapestries/rugs placed vertically and stone blocks/slabs. Or a combination of objects. For example you could use tall bookcases and then just a row of stone blocks along the top if there is a gap between the book cases and the ceiling.
But I think it's also worth thinking about ways you can define 'rooms' without building walls because it's cheaper, easier and saves your item limit for other things. You can look at NPC houses and other buildings in the game for ideas, or real-life examples like the links Nestor posted.
I think the simplest way to do it is to group items as if they're in rooms, and maybe use big/long furniture to break up spaces.
For example when I decorated my house (Mournoth Keep) on the PTS I have a dining area in one corner with a table and chairs in the middle, all on a rug, and then cabinets around the walls. It was divided from the kitchen area by one of the long bars and the fact that all the kitchen furnishings were clustered around the fire. Quantum_Knight✭✭✭In my version of Mournoth Keep, I walled off the room just to the right of the main door with blocks, complete with an archway. I, too wish there were options for crafting a full wall that will match the style of the house a bit closer.
A good tip for building walls is to remember that physics aren't really a thing, and you can place a platform off the ground so you can jump on top of it for placing those higher objects, or aligning that upper section of the wall.1 -
OmniDo✭✭✭✭✭Planks generally suck because they have visible gaps, are not straight, and clip through carpets.
But you can "disguise" them with rugs, like this for example, where I created a "Loft" style home by exploiting the vertical empty space of the Elven Vaulted ceilings.
