Yep. And you can tell who they are. These are the guys that could afford to buy 4 castles as soon as housing came out.
I don't comment here often but when I do, I get [snip]

I agree. I know it's bad when I try to farm at low population times and can't get more than 2 ancestor silk nodes in an hour. I have been seeing a lot of gold farmers lately all running to venders in packs. I ran into one of the thieves den and they were standing all around the merchant with their jkxgkyds names. Can't understand why zos can't do something about this.

And then some people say that ZOS care. They DON'T care. Same bots have been reported several times, lots of proof, and same bots still on same places after months.

How do some people and even ZOS Devs here in forums dare to say they care?

Come on!!! If you cared those same bots would have been banned months ago.

Personally, I don't mind if the bot accounts aren't blocked/disabled...I'd much rather find out all those accounts that have been rubber-banding/botting had all current (and future) toons capped at 1 skill point.

As an interim solution/possible alternative, it would be nice to see a shockwave/"push-back" affect trigger when an anchor drops, sending anyone within ranged attack distance (including outer radius of AoE) up and back 2m or so, eventually pushing the bots out of range of the dolmen (even those cowering on top of the tent near dolmen at Vulkel guard). Alternatively, something that draws players TOWARD dolmen when anchor is destroyed, so that eventually their proximity will agro summoners, hopefully resulting in their deaths and public display of corpses in front of dolmen.

On a side note, a few days ago, I was complaining in Auridon zone chat about bots, and someone claimed that "players" only bot so they can PvP, claiming PvP is only possible at CP160 or higher...Seems that the no-CP and < level 50 PvP areas aren't too well known among botters and their apologists.

Well if you bot grind to CP160 and enter Cyriodil you are in for an rough time, however 2/3 of the players will enjoy it :)
Its nice that bad players also get somebody who are easy to kill.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I'm guessing these bots were players who already have CP160+ on other toons, but were botting their way to level 50 on new toons.

I still can't see how hard it is, though, to look for toons which are continually firing at one location for > 5 minutes without some minimal (pre-defined) amount of movement, as no boss or mob should take anywhere near that long to kill...And if it isn't dead in that time, the toon should have been killed by boss if it is not moving.

Still, seeing a bunch of "pro" PvP players suddenly have their toons all drop to maximum 1 skill point because they botted to level 50 on additional toons would be loved by many in Cyrodil, I guess, as well as deterring the bots in PvE areas :)

My email is full of "thank you adventure for making Tamriel a better place". I've given up reporting bots as I don't have the time to be zenimax's rent a cop.

I don't understand... how do you even loot the chest if you're afk?

They don't loot the chests...All they are doing is leeching exp in order to progress from L1 to L50, along with all the unearned skill points that come with moving the toon to a location, taping/rubber banding the mouse/controller button, and leaving their computer unattended.

Before anyone says bots don't affect the game, they do. They affect the economy by driving down the market price of mats (by creating oversupply).

Some people might think "who cares" but this creates an unhealthy economy. It also hurts legitimate farmers.

Driving down price is a good thing. That isn't what makes bots hurt the economy. What makes them hurt the economy is acquiring a monopoly on specific items and materials which results in inflation of the price. This is specifically why ZOS doesn't provide a centralized global auction system.

Yup, saw a good sized group of bots in shadowfen this morning and I followed them around killing mobs. I haven't seen groups of this size for awhile.

Has anyone ever seen a game master ingame at all? On loadscreens sometimes I notice the text about them having a Z next to their name, but that's all, and I've been playing since launch. Maybe if they were present more often, botting would be reduced.

Yes, shortly after launch when gold farmers spammed chat and bots could keep you from completing quest objectives. ESO's reputation was taking a nose dive.

I would repeatedly report bots in zone and some time later a gm materialize.

Our current situation is not nearly as bad, but it's troublesome none the less. Keep up the complaints. Squeaky wheel gets the grease.
