Tackling Craglorn as a (mostly) solo player -- looking for advice

Hi Everyone. I've been playing for about 3 months. I'm a CP240 Stam DK tank. I have no problem solo'ing dolmens and public dungeons. I use the group finder, like almost everyone else, to run daily dungeons, sometimes normal, but vet on all but the hardest ones. I run sword & board in heavy armor, naturally, when I'm tanking in dungeons, but switch to medium, DW + Bow, when I'm going solo.

I finally left the crafting stations in Belkarth behind yesterday for the first time and ventured out to do some questing in Craglorn. Oops. Most of the quests and all the public events (anomalies, etc.) are scaled for groups. Even though I can solo at least some of the easier world bosses in the alliance zones, I was quickly overwhelmed in Craglorn by mobs.

So: Should I keep at it? Is Craglorn solo'able once I get better at it? Alternatively, what do most people do to find groups? Do you just use zone chat to find PUGs? Is there a better way? Clearly, if I could get a few people together and share a quest, it would be both more practical and more fun. But I'm not sure how to go about doing it. I tend to have modest amounts of time to play in one sitting: 45 minutes in the morning before work, maybe an hour before bed in the evening. Investing a lot of time in group finding will kill my play time.

Help! All suggestions are very welcome.

I've solo-ed all of Craglorn on my CP600 magicka sorc. You have to find the right balance of being able to survive and being able to do damage.

I would say you'll probably want a group for the three Anomalies. The high damage of the Air Atronach and the sheer numbers of trash probably makes soloing these too much trouble to be much fun (assuming it could be done. I haven't tried).

There are three (or is it four) group delves you'll need to do. Each of these has one boss that is a real pain solo. But none of the quests actually require you to kill the delve bosses to proceed. (You may have to die and run to the far door while still immune to attacks while rezzing, but it can be done.)

The final quest of the Mage portion of the storyline is soloable. Again, it's past what I consider "fun to solo," but it can be done.

    After that, everything is solo.

Go for it, man. Craglorn, IMO, is some of the best stuff in the whole game. There's always people wanting to farm Anomalies for Ra Gada motifs, and you won't have trouble getting people to team up for the group delves. And then it's all solo, and really, a blast.

(As for the group dailies, well, some of them can be soloed. Others can not. Doing them several times can be a real instruction on the difference between a good group and a bad one. But all of them are fun.)

I think you missed the queststarter? Most of the quests for Craglorn were adjusted to be done solo when One Tamriel came out. Go talk to the Star-Gazer in one of the capitals for the queststarter.

I'm not sure how you'd go about it on a tank, but I've soloed 100% of Craglorn, with the exception of Shada herself and Trials, on a pre-Homestead Stamsorc (finished a good chunk of Craglorn on a mDK as well). I imagine it's quite possible, but it may take ages to kill certain things if playing a standard type tank with low dps.

It's actually my favorite storyline/questline thus far as well. Whether you decide to try to solo or are willing to group up, if you've any interest in Nedes and/or Redguards don't miss it.

It sounds like you need better damage and healing output. Pretty much all of craglorn (questline related at least) should be pretty straightforward to solo. Make sure to unlock Vigor from PvP if you are having trouble surviving. It shouldn't take long, and it will help a lot.

Yeah. I have Green Dragon's Blood as a DK. I'm told it's not as good as Vigor, but PvP is another big part of the game I haven't delved into (!) yet.

I've only ever played 1T. Maybe I got intimidated by the group-dungeon icons on most of the quests I picked up in Belkarth. I should just go out again and see how I do.

Does Craglorn quest offer increased amount of exp since its meant for groups? Or am I just better off grinding in terms of exp gain/time?

So far questing seems so much slower than just about any other form of leveling.

Some parts are difficult to solo. A few of the delve bosses, and some of the longer ones can't be done easily or at all. The Arena part of he Warriors school can't be soloed.

The world bosses are not probably not possible to solo by most players.

The story quests are all soloable except the one where you need to kill 3 anomalies. The quests in the delves can be done except for those few delve bosses. You'll need to get help killing those bosses to get completion

There is one long questline that should not have the group icon. Go to one of the faction capitals (Elden Root, Wayrest, Mournhold) and look for the Star Gazer.

There are parts where you need at least one other person. Some say it's soloable and I've done a lot solo but gaaah it's better with one other in terms of the entire main quest.

There are other parts which I highly recommend 3 or 4 total. Those have the + on them but are solo able mostly but some bosses could become problematic

The main questline but not the secondary quest lines have been rescaled as tough but soloable. Stick to that until you get your footing.

Favor survival over most other things. Dont mean go whole hog tank but tanky is good flavor.

Whenever possible have layered ongoing heals like say surge, bloodthirst, regen etc and one solid click-on-heavy-heal handy. its good to have one-two ongoing heals as well as a burst but if you use shields or heavy armor you can usually drop one of them.

IMX heavy armor and high resistance along with the ongoing heals and a burst heal will serve you better than shields in this cuz shields are a "go down for a second and quickly in trouble" while the heavy is more of an ongoing progress thing. Its a matter of taste. IMO if you go shields also having a clanfear for tanking is very much a good idea if not necessary.

Fights against bosses will last a while so settle in for the long slugfest.

out in the open in "group areas" and against world boss setupos or anomalies - IMO best to avoid most of them but try it out once or twice just to see - after you get your feet under you.

BTW if you consider poisons - a poison of lingering health restore and health restore tends to add a decent damage+heal option to any build.

I'm not really very 'good' at this game. At 350 or so CP I did manage to solo probably 75% of the content including some group delves and a couple of world bosses on my magic sorc. It did require me to rethink my skills and playstyle (for the better) but I did find it a mostly enjoyable experience. Typically for some of the harder stuff there would be someone soloing as well who was typically receptive to grouping up (XBOX NA). I think the zone is worth going through - I enjoyed it.

If mobs are causing issues you should look at your build (you may simply not have a high survivability one)

Bosses and group events (anomalies, anka-ras) are normal if you cant solo em, very few people can.
I have no issues with Craglorn other than the group events (mentioned above) where I will be worn down, or most Bosses that either just have too much DPS to be able to full on tank solo when they have mobs also, or Bosses that *heal* ...... i really hate those.

Craglorn is meant for groups; if you just ask in chat, most of the time people will show up.
