This thread and that thread the other day complaining that ZoS wasn't offering a contest in their country (where it was illegal) pretty much prove that, in fact, forum posters will complain to ZoS about absolutely anything and everything.

It's sad that console gamers still put up with this *** in 2017.

Paying a "service fee" to play a video game online is a pure cash grab by the console manufacturers. But they can get away with it because they jave a monopoly over their player base.

    @MLGProPlayer

Respectfully I comprehend that many people are unaware of what they are paying for.

It's a really awesome service which turns out to be the least cost for cloud based gaming services on any platform.

    What you're paying for:
-24 hour cloud game, save, profile access and backup
-voice chat across the entire network and unhinged from any game but accessible during any game
-Cloud based DVR with Many gigs or 1-2 TB of storage
    -Managed friends lists
-Access to create Clubs or clans which can hold over 50,000 unique members per club (you can create multiple and join multiple others and this can handle over 20 different games at a time per club)

    -weekly digital game discounts
    -game specific Dev announcements

That's to name the highlights that I benefit from.
Compare what you'd pay and the time it would take to set this up and manage it yourself monthly just for your PC friends. $59/year isn't even close to the PC cost of a Voice chat server alone.....now add in a guild site, and cloud save secure backup for just your guild and then multiply that by each game that you'd need it for when services don't extend or handle multiple games all at once intuitively.

Steam does all that (yes, including voice chat) for free.

These services cost very little to provide to customers in today's day and age, and are more than covered by other revenue streams.

That $$$ goes to Microsoft. You pay a premium to play via Microsoft's service but not to play ESO.

On xbox you're really paying for security against your online account mainly.

    So much misinformation.

You can build a great gaming PC for the same price as a console. And for just a bit more, you can get a PC that'll run circles around any console out there.

Here's a really solid build for less than $650: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/jxX4jc

I didn't spend a lot of time fine-tuning this list to get the absolute best bang for your buck, but it's pretty darn close. If you're interested in PC gaming, I highly recommend building your own. Not only for the experience, but you can usually get more powerful components for less if you build it yourself.

    Good luck!

well be needed to buy a new pc but instead we bought a xbox one and a google chrome book. At that time i didnt know there was a fee. So what do you guys recommend for a pc? Toshiba/ HP/ Samsung/ Dell ? to play eos.

You should do some research and then use pcpartpicker.com to build one yourself instead of spending too much money on overpriced brand name rigs. You should also go with a desktop unless you absolutely need the mobility of a laptop, as desktops are much better for gaming, for multiple reasons.

No actually they don't. They offer services but by comparison, they are far from similar in use and access across multiple devices and platforms.

Steam doesn't extend to consoles and PC where Xbox live does.

Yeah, you can build a decent gaming rig for well under $1500. Depending on how frugal you're willing to be, I've seen budget builds for about $500. The place where it all starts to add up, is with peripherals and things like your operating system, but the deals are out there, if you're willing to look.

Not to mention you get 4 free games a month with Gold, 2 for Xbox one and 2 for 360. I think its worth my $60 a year, not sure why people expect everything for free. If I didn't think it was worth my money I wouldn't buy it same can be said for ESO+, I like having access to DLC and Craft bag and you get the equivalent of $15 crowns. IMO its worth my money therefore I spend my money. I don't think people realize if everything was free no one would produce anything. It wouldn't be worth their time or effort.

Steam provides all the services above, free of charge.
Steam has steam sales, if you pay $60 dollars a year to buy games on steam sales, it is much more beneficial than paying $60 a year for those "free games" (they are not really free, you know, you pay for them, $60 a year).
    1) Once you buy a game on steam sales, it's yours. Once you stop paying for sub, all the "free games" will be gone.
    2) You have control of what games you are going to get, so, you only buy games that you like and will play. Xbox's "free games" most of the time are games you have no interested in, so basically Microsoft is selling you products that you don't need and are not going to use.

Yup, you are right in the end though, if you think it's worth your money, go for it >D
