Irl it would drain stamina . Ever jump rope ? That is so hard to keep doing .

irl a heavy attack would cost stamina, not restore it.

    :unamused: Definitely a no.

    This is the appropriate answer.

First, one trial virtually requires jumping and HM requires a minimum of 4 players doing this.

Second, while magika technically doesn't need to block and dodge roll as much due to magika shields there is not an alternative to jumping.

    So no.

I bunny hop cause I find it fun. Only fun on magicka sorc though. On stam classes I got no time for it, aside from while charging up a heavy attack or dizzy swing.

It doesn't have any effect on gameplay because of this thing called tab target.

Sad to say but for a significant period on the early going i thought jumping did burn stamina.

i have seen quite a few bunnie-hoppers and a stream or two touting the benefits of jumping for maneuver and turn in PVP but really i havent see it as significant enough to warrant any serious stamina burn.

    So, maybe a little cost?

or maybe even not a cost but more like a "jump reduces stamina recovery for 2s" kind of thing.

I'm going to make a really fat old guy tank, named fattylumpkins. And he will be forever out of breath, and can run exactly nowhere. He will always move like he's snared, and never do much. He might need to sit down for a bit.

But that's all ok, because I don't need to get up and mkve to hold aggro.

No. I am pretty surprised how many players still didn't figure out how powerful 'bunnyhopping' can be when facing multiple attackers, especially when you combine it with a good line of sight use. Parkour is king for 1vx or other outnumbered encounters.

    YES!

    Definitely yes!

And then an "athleticism" world skill line (like Legerdemain) that migrates sprinting and jumping and swimming costs...

    What you say?

    Swimming costs no stamina?

But it Should! Just like jumping!

And it should be affected by your gear... get a speed reduction and stamina cost increase for every piece of armor you wear. Say... a 3% penalty for each piece of light armor, 6% for medium armor, and 15% for heavy armor. And maybe a flat 20% bonus if stripping off your armor altogether.

And possibly even an completely new athletic thing to be added... climbing!
Yes, I think we should be able to scale walls and such like Quen does in the Thieves Guild missions. There should be climbing, not just fade out, appear on top of rope/vine/whatever, but actual climbing on some selected surfaces. Cliff climbing. Wall climbing. Rope climbing. whatever... again, with a stamina cost, armor penalties, and al athleeticism perk that migrates those.

    nope, sorry

Yes absolutely, jumping in PvP is a common method of avoiding targeting and should have a small cost associated with it. Mage builds would and should tire eventually from constant jumping. Stamina builds would be less likely to have a problem. Mind you the cost should be small. Nothing like the cost for dodge roll.

This goes to the issue of ESO lacking any real targeting system so PvP is more of a shooter feel rather than traditional MMO combat. It is almost like playing any of the console shooter...feels like my old halo days lol

Not sure if serious. This isn't Skyrim. Aiming attacks isn't a super precise thing. You can hit someone who's jumping around all day long unless they've got shuffle or some other effect active.

If the movement we do in-game wasn't so BUGGY people would not feel as compelled to jump so much as they do now.

For a simple example, casting (especially spamming) Healing Ward and Wall of Elements causes you to become immobilized for a quarter second or so. It's very annoying. Casting these bugged skills when you are in the air does not cause this conflict, so it is actually beneficial to jump a lot during combat if casting skills which immobilize you but mostly in PvP.

For a more complex example, weaving and using Medium Attacks in particular (and occasionally Heavy Attacks) is buggy. Inferno/Ice Staves truly suffer from this. The direction your reticle faces/character direction vs the location of the enemy must be nearly perfectly aligned, or these attacks will often bug out. Jumping in the air a bunch while Medium Attack weaving allows your attacks to become significantly more reliable.

Also jumping over tiny objects/inclines and most other things can be really difficult. Bad physics.

But besides all of this, I would rather not make jumping cost Stamina. This is an MMO, and certain features from the single player games should not be in here.

Yes it should. Didn't think about this much at first but I started jumping in ranged engagements. It made a difference. I could get farther away and I was faster. I got hit a lot less too. If your not a vamp try it while sneaking. If you are a vamp. WoW talk about covering some ground with nearly no stam consumption. Another big difference is being able to doge attacks. I didn't notice this at first. Then I chased a retreating TANK/dps/healer Temp or DK with just a quarter health left. I might have hit 5 of 20 attacks while he out ran me. I lost count on the hits an misses. I was to amazed by his amazing playing abilities. Needless to say he found friends that healed him and since he was a tank (DK or Temp) he was able to turn around and one shot me with yet another amazing ability. His high dps skills as a tank.
Actually though I died because I could not hit him first. Second I need to learn when to chase. Third I was on a level 16 sorc with only 300cp. He was 600cp with exp.

Does jumping need to cost stam? YES. Will they change it? Probably not. Will I start jumping more? YES. Probably buy a mod. Cronus Max or controller. To automatically spam jump.
